Thread: How well does a scout forage compared to a ranger?

I hunt animals now and then and have hunting 4 for the purpose of harvesting meat. The amount of meat you can harvest is proportional to the harvesting skill mod, right?
What is the approximate difference in amount of meat you can harvest between:
- Scout with hunting 4
- Master scout
- Ranger with hunting4 (whatever the line is called)
- Master ranger

Forage or harvest?
Forage is forage, same stuff, except Master Rangers have a chance of foraging up to 3 items.
Harvesting, Master Rangers get 30% more, on average, than Master Scouts. Not much, but we are working on that. If you hunt only casually, it's not worth the bother.

Ok thanks. Iexpected the difference to be bigger (like 50%). It's hardly worth to go master ranger unless one spends pretty much all his time hunting animal resources.
(I meant harvest but couldn't edit the post to change the title. I always confuse the two).

The difference between Master Ranger and Hunt Master is fairly insignificant. I was a Master for many months being one of the first few on my server. Then recently dropped some skills to play around with other professions but kept Bioscience 4(and frontiering 4). I sawvery little change.
As for an example of real numbers associated with the other levels,recently my group killed an enraged desert kimo and we announced hide harvests for the kill because someone in the group wanted hides. The numbers were as follows:
Hunter (Hunting IV) = 617 Hides
Master Scout = 649 Hides
Hunt Master (Field Bioscience IV) = 771 Hides
Just one example butthe Hunt Master harvested ~19% more than a Master Scout and about ~25% more than a Hunter.
