Rangers in SWG should be like modern day Conservation officers. Here are some fun and crazy ideas to make playing a Ranger more fun and purposful. Feel free to add some fun ideas if you have any. I have no idea how any of these ideas can be implimented in the game. Im just brainstorming and having some fun with a few ideas.

Rangers should get to buy ranger station deedsfrom architects and these ranger stations will have a ranger mission termianl that lets us go on patrol missions to battle poachers who are in the business trafficing organic reasources from animals who are deemded "protected" by the ranger community. We should also get to seize control of their weapons, mounts and all resources that were collected. The ranger community can even mark cetain areas as a proteceted wilflife refuge and these areas can be patrolled by rangers.

All non-ranger proffesions (even scouts) should have to pay for a hunting license in order to hunt animals. They'll have to purchase these from a ranger himself or get them at a vendor in a ranger station. Hunting licenses can a more expensive "general hunting license" thatlets players hunt anything up to a certain amount, or a cheaper"specific hunting license" that lets players hunt specific types of animals up to a certain amount. Rangers will then have the right to stop and ask for this license from any player. Players who are found hunting animals without a licensewill be considered poachers and fined. The optoin to fine a player will only appear on our radialif a license is not foundin a players inventory when there areorganic resources present. The money will automatically be withdrawn from thier accounts. Repeat vilolators will have there vehicles and weapons confiscated. Rangers will have the right to view and search a players inventory and make sure they aren't hunting over their quota. If more organic reasources are found in their inventory then is stipulated in the license they purchased, those resources will be confiscated and the player will be fined as well.

Rangers can even get a warrent from the town hall and search players house (even if set to "private") for suspected reasources. The warrent will give us the ability to sieze these reasources if found. A fine will be sent via email, and the money directly withdrawn from there account.

When new planets are brought in to SWG. Rangers should always get a two month lead time to explore the planet firstbefore anyone else does. Rangers will map the planet and catalog the newly discovered wildlife. If a non-ranger tries to buy a ticket to a newly introduced planet, they'll get a message saying that only rangers are allowed. After two months, non-ranger players will then be able to travel to these newly explored and mapped planets.

I can see how those ideas would be fun, and I'm impressed. Here I thought the deabte was only between Commando style rangers and Hunter style rangers - you've introduced a whole new branch, Park rangers.

The only thingI would add, maybe you could also give wookies a hat and tie, and a small companion pet wookie called 'boo boo'. Then they could have the unique skill of stealing pic-a-nic baskets, which the ranger would have to tell them off for.

I think that idea would be fun.

Oh, goodness. I've nearly soiled myself...twice. Once -- the bit about pic-a-nic baskets. The second time -- a Rodian named "Teddy Ruxpin." "Will yoube my friend?" Thank you for the laughs.

Maybe I just didn't read that right, but wow, those seem really stupid. Not to flame, but we have enough skills that don't work, don'tgive me have 2 or 3 things that just add GAY to the list of problems that need to be fixed.

A little history behind the name. When I first heard of the game I thought of a wookiee, running a bar, with his pet rancor to eat drunks. I registered for beta using the name Ruxpin, as I like the name for a wookiee.

It turned out that was a good move, as the name got the attention of a certain girl in the beta chatrooms (the rooms we spent a lot of time in, as back then the servers were down most of the time, AND the forums didn't work). That girl is now my wife.

In honour of this fact, Ruxpin is actually my wookiee character on Ahazi (I just never play him). My main character is a Rodian ranger called Toothopik on Eclipse.

Thank you, it's a heavily edited version - it misses outlots of stuff about moving fromEngland to America in a very short space of time, and the fact I've now gone from being single to married with 3 kids, 3 dogs, 4 cats, 2 hamsters - and a gecko, maybe if I'm famous someday you can read all about it. lol

Teddy, you are nuts! And back to the topic....I like the idea of giving out hunting licenses, but I would never push it to the devs (unless y'all made me ). I would remove the quantity limits and replace them with time limits (each license lasts a week). I would also remove the warrant system(sounds like our favorite profession...BH) and institue a tef system (if they hunt without a license they get a tef). Unfortunately this would end up nerfing Scouts so I couldn't support it. This was a fun thread, thx!

If I have to be nuts, can I be covered in chocolate?

I just realised my replay was a little kinky sounding, and as Calc seems to have some sort of wookiee fondling habit (Furry?) from what I can tell, I should probably clear up the fact that I don't want to be covered in chocolate by you personallyCalc.

I have never even seen that darn wookiee. Heck it is my goal to make wookiees into throw rugs.
