Thread: Back in the day, I heard rumor about rangers disabling minefields

It was stated to be so at one point, although I could never find where afterwards. The idea was that an increase in trapping skill was supposed to make minefields disable easier. As far as I know, there is actually no difference regardless of skill in minefield disabling - whatever you are, you fail or kill yourself

When I got the TEF, it exploded a few times. The damage was pretty sad, really. About 200 points of damage and a few hits just made me heal. No biggie.

I would ace more squadrons if they'd just fix the remaster bug.

I think that our trapping skill gives us a greater chance of avoiding mines, but only commandos get a bonus in disarming them. I tried this on some old minefield left in our city and I got a message to the extent of "your trapping skill helps you avoid a mine." Of course, I then found about four others the hard way... haha

That may be correct, I dunno.

I tend to spend a fair amount of time crawling around in Rebel minefields, and I've never (knock on wood) had one explode. Of course, I've never tried to actually disarm a minefield. I've never seen the message you refer to either.

It seems that the best way to disarm a minefield is to buff up and run around on them until they stop blowing up.

I heard we have an ability to search for mines in the fields and disable them. I've attempted it before ranger and got a TEF. I tried it as a ranger and, though I never found mines, I didn't get a TEF. Can someone shine the light for me please?
