Thread: What kind of trap should I craft

I know with the upcoming pop-tart fix, what kind of traps should I craft for surviving the best in the wild. I'm Master ranger and I know I sould like a respec'd ranger but I've just never dealt much with traps (I feel guilty because I did respec so I didn't have to do the trapping line)

tisk tisk.....best is to maybe make one of each....and run around throwing them at everything....see what they do....and apply them to what you wish to achive with them....

Here is a list. Now you can consider what you want !!

Wire Mesh > makes target vulnerable to melee attacks (works)

Bone spur > blinds target (works)

Stink bomb > makes target vulnerable to "state effects" ( dizzy, stun, KD......) (works)

Noise Maker > stuns target (works)

P-dart > tranquillizes target ( slows movement ) (works)

L-dart > tranquillizes target ( slows targets attacks ) (works)

Glow wire > makes target vulnerable to attacks (works)

Glow juice > makes target vulnerable to ranged attacks (works)

Adhesive mesh > entangles target ( slows or stops movement ) (?)

Flash bomb > blinds multiple targets in area (?)

Sonic pulse > stuns and dizzys mutliple targets in area (works some times)

Ive been using the stink bomb to pull creatures, works well if you follow it up with some mezzes, since ive got low accuracy it really helps stick states.

Thank you Tariannor. That's more what I was looking for, a list of traps that worked so I wouldn't be wasting resources crafting traps that were useless

Flash bomb works (at least as well as the sonic). I was using this yesterday, and a blind state effect is being applied. Of course, I can't prove that the blind state itself does anything, but it's being applied.

Can they be stacked? I remember there was a post on whether or not they could be and I can 't find it?

Ive been a master ranger/rifleman since dec 03 and there are 4 traps i like to use almost exclusively

1. P-darts- slowing things down as a rifleman is great

2. Adhesive mesh- stopping things is even better but the stack size of 2 limits my use of this trap

3. Bone spur- I like the thought of creatures not being able to see me

4. Noisemaker- stunning things is cool even if stun on creatures does nothing

Those are my 4 of choice

After hunting with my main group of friends for the last week (since I made MRanger) I've figured the following, none of which is pertinent to the actual crafting, use, whether they work as intended or any of that 'real' info:

Noise Maker traps, are quite loud. I'm a MRifleman/MRanger, so I am always waaaay back, prone, under camo and cover. I toss one of these things and go "ooooh neato". My friends were like "do you REALLY need to use those" to which I always replied "why yes, of course I do, I'm a Ranger and that's what I do!" I never understood what their problem was. Then, once, just as I lobbed one, one of my friends, a pistoleer, who happened to be at the point of impact, had his TeamSpeak button pressed, and ... OH .... MY .... GOD! It's.... ummm, loud.

Then there's the Flash Bomb trap. Much like the Sonic one, this one is... uhhh, very very bright. Use it at night, close to your own position, at your own risk. It WILL leave spots in your eyes. Whether the +BLIND+ actually works or not may be debatable, but use this next to yourself at night, and YOU will be +BLIND+ for a minute.

That is exactly the point. The states stick, but do they work? What is the current status of states? I remember some were broken after Pub17.
