Do Devs ever read our forums? I think not, personally they I think they spend all the time pacifiying jedi. Look at the next publish. ghads!!!

I remember way back, yup I've been a ranger since about 5 months after kickoff, SOE made a big announcement when the first Jedi was made. We'd get an announcement every 10 seconds if that was the case today.

This is not a Jedi bashing thread. I just remember being a ranger back then, gimped camps, traps, camo, harvesting out of wack with other trades. What else..oh, we should be the best hunters and we are far from it, sure we can solo a krayt with a borked pdart now. whoo hoo.

OUR PROFESSION IS STILL THE SAME !!!!

What is their excuse? none..they don't give a sh*t about us is the only answer I can come up with. I would like for once....JUST ONCE a dev to actually enter our forums and address any issue...anyone one.....just pick one to discuss with us.

chickens...pander to the group that will give you the most money, not a quality game.

yes...i'm p*ssed.

Based on the effort we've seen recently, I want to say no. But I know in my heart the answer is yes. Jedi are simply more high-priority for the developers because, quite frankly, most new players want to be a Jedi. Unfortunately, we see SOE catering to the lowest common denominator of intelligence, and the game as a whole suffers. Though I think we are among the most deserving, Rangers are not the only professions broken. I think amoung the combat professions, we are the most broken, but entertainers, DEs and CHs also need a lot of love. Smugglers do as well, but the new slicing changes are a start for them, whereas we've seen nothing.

The point is that they do read these boards. We've seen Tiggs come in here when we raise a big stink, and I'm pretty sure that the Jedi had no idea what trap wasn't working, so they probably came here to check. GreenMarine was in the Scout forum the other day. I know it seems like we're overlooked, and it's true. But that doesn't mean that they don't read our stuff. I feel confident in saying that the developers themselves aren't in complete control of what they work on. LucasArts and the suits from SOE determine what gets worked on. I just wish that they'd interact a little bit more. A few red posts does so much to boost the morale of a profession, and I wonder sometimes why they never seem to come here until we raise a huge stink.

It just seems like when we're at our worst as a community, SOE actually pays attention and interacts. That's not a good precedent to set, in my opinion.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

I just find it so frustrating...it seems like a "black hole"..they work in. Promises..promises..then nothing. Then...more promises and promises..then nothing. over and over. Do we have to threaten to leave the game? Take my two accounts and go play elsewhere? I'm too damm stubborn for that.

But I just can't fathom why they let the situation persist for so long? They have never given us an excuse as to why ranger was never fixed or other borked professions for that matter.Beingignored just makes me more angry. If at least they wouldpost for us.".heyRangers, we can't work on this right now..the "suits" tell us we have to work on Jedi." Hey..I"m good with that..it's the being ignoredpart that makes me angry. They can't give us a timetable anymore...we've had those come and go. So I pay little attention to promises and timetables anymore. So perhaps just ignoring the problem will make it go away? I know people like that in the workplace...they don't last long.

Do they think the other professions don't matter anymore? They are just a stepping stone for players to get to jedi? So it really doesn't matter that they are borked, as people will only play them for a short while.

In case anyone at SOE hasn't noticed, and I don't meant our developers here, they have a credability problem.

i've thought about this a lot lately too....especially after the cu and the complete destruction of my second beloved profession....tk. the only conclusion i can come to at this point as to why, i sincerely believe, we're the most overlooked profession in the game, is our devotion to our profession. i think it's definitely an endearing trait to have, but they know we'll stick around, so why deal with us now when they know if they wait a bit, they'll still find us all on the back burner, quietly making small protests about the state of our profession? that and we're most definitely not as loud as the jedi...we don't raise a huge fit every publish where we are, once again, ignored. like i said, we wait patiently as we're told to do because we're mature individuals and whining never got anyone anything...

...unless they were a jedi, of course.

and i don't think it's a good business practice for the devs to blame the suits atlucasrts for where their attention currently lies. i doubt that would go over well in any business situation. still, you're right, it would be nice to hear something, even if it was as pitiful as that.

The fact that Riflemen and Jedi have a "hide from radar" ability would seem to indicate that the devs do read the ranger forum.

The devs do read the forums. You pretty much have to accept that as an article of faith. They just 'do'. As was commented above, where else do you think they get all the cool ideas to hand down to other profs?

The don't COMMENT in the forum, which is anothe rmatter entirely and can't be taken as evidence that they don't come look in here from time to time.

Why don't they post? Well, you just need to find any recent post in any forum by Tiggs, Blix, JFreeman or GreenMarine and see what happens when they post a comment about a particualr issue to do with a particular profession's issues. About 15s later the DevStalkers hit in force, flooding the next few pages with the same cut and pasted (in some case well written and in many cases honestly well founded) rants.

They are then followed by the same little cliques of followers bleating their well rehearsed responses.

They are then followed by the inevitable Greek Chorus of doomsayers, naysayers and Fallen Sky merchants.

And somewhere in among all that mess will be a few stilled voices from the profession that just had the Moveable Feast visited on them trying to work out who the heck these hundreds of borderline mental cases are... and just what ARE they doing in their obscure backwater of the boards??

To be perfectly honest, I cringe at the thought that a dev will post here. Because of all the above. Also because some of the red names (I'll not mention which one in particular) have a habit of giving such obscurantist and gnomic pronouncements on the fate of yay skill or yada profession that not only CAN you get 101 different interpretations of what he might have said but you'll get another 101 interpretations on what he might have meant to had said. All followed up by the tears and wails of frustration as people realise they read into the post what they wanted to hear and not what was actually, vaguely, said.

So yep, they read here, they stay in the shadows and then move on to other places. (and that means nothing more or less than it actually says, btw )

it's probably just my unflinching optimism, but I hope that the devs did that to work out the bugs in the game mechanic before implementing it into another profession.... *coughRangerscough*

While i am sure they do read our forums,
I dont have much faith as to the frequency.

and yah.. you nailed it. when we are at our worst, they come in, thats some horrible negative reinforcement for you.

I personally see the devs as overworked, underpaid talented people who probably really want to give all the attention in the world to the professions that deserve it, unfortunately i would also imagine that they get pressure from both ends, players and suits, to cater to the Jedi and other high vis professions.

and Smugglers, Squad Leaders, Rangers and other ignored professions are merely placed on the back burner.

I hope we get the love we deserve, but its hard to be faithful in the dark.
