Thread: Any good Ranger guides?
First off, look for a Scout guide. Ranger abilities build on and extend scout abilities to a significant degree. Here's a quick rundown:
Wayfaring: With increases to your camouflage and terrain negotiation skillmods, you'll remain scent-masked from higher level creatures and gain increased crawling speed. Running speed up slopes is already maxed at Scout Exploration 4. There was a /conceal ability to hide you from npcs until very recently in beta. I don't know yet if it was an intentional removal or a bug that hasn't been fixed yet.
Frontiering: You'll get increased success at /forage attempts and get the draft schematics for the two largest camps, the Field Base and the High Tech Field Base. These are truly huge and impressive encampments suitable for large groups. Very cool.
Field Bioscience: You'll get a huge amount of information now when you examine creatures, such as damage vulnerabilities and lists of their special attacks. Your harvesting skill continues to rise, giving you a greater quantity of meat, bones, or hides when you /harvest an animal corpse. You can make a living selling this stuff on the bazaar to crafters and medics.
Advanced Trapping: The Ranger gets area-effect traps, compared to the Scout's single-target traps. Currently there are only two, one that blinds and one that (I think) dizzies. The number of traps scouts get was doubled not long ago to nine, so I fully expect rangers to get more traps before long as well. This line also gives you the /rescue ability, which pulls non-player attackers off your friend and onto you.
IMHO, all four Ranger lines need more content and abilities to greater or lesser degrees, but I'm fairly confident they will get it sooner or later.
I wish I could learn more about how the Ranger profession works. Does anyone know of any good Ranger game guides?
You will not find the community on EZboard by searchingfor 'Zenarcher Crimsonwolf', but you will find it if you just search for 'Zenarcher'. I'm not trying to be picky, but I want to make sure that users find your forum. By the way, it is a sad thing that Sony has decided to 'squelch' the Rants-and-Flames forums.
