Recently I've been thinking about dropping Bio-Engi (Because its mostly broken) and picking up Ranger. I figure that Creature Handler/Ranger would be a good mix of professions.

I was wondering if any of you have any complaints about the profession, mainly regarding any bugs or anything. at this point im very cautious about going into a profession thats not talked about much, due to the fact that bio-engi is almost entirely broken (and/or undocumented.) Thanks for your help.

Wayfaring will be your most useful skill. The additional camouflage bonus and increase prone movement speed will help you get near vicious animals without being detected. This would complement CH nicely.

Our Field Bioscience line (aka Advanced Hunting) is pretty bland. More bonuses to creature knowledge and creature harvesting. Higher up creature knowledge lets you know creature's weaknesses and what special attacks they have. While initially this may seem cool, it should not be a defining ability. In the world of the internet, creature statistics will quickly become known. The harvesting...well I am not sure. As I was leveling up, I didn't pay attention to how much I was getting from creatures. While I was leveling, I never had a problem running out of creature materials, and I don't have that problem now. I suppose it's supposed to be our money-making skill, but I've shouted many times "Selling stacks of over 1k bones for 4k credits" and never received a response. Sadly I can make 3700 credits per destroy mission, so why bother?

Frontiering is for our more advanced camps and foraging of of items. Rangers can forage rare items, but this is currently broken so no one knows what kind of items we will get. I actually like the camps a lot. Consider this our downtime skill/group friendly skill. They do not appear to be repelling aggressive creatures however, which needs to be fixed. Once this is done I will have no complaints about this line.

Trapping is for the most part broken. We get a new ability "Rescue", which is basically a taunt as far as I can see, but you have to target the player you want to rescue instead of targeting the creature and taunting. Since I am also a Brawler, this skill kind of overlaps and given that creatures usually attack the closest person, it's usage is minimal. Perhaps when groups start working on more advanced hunting tactics this skill could come into play. Finally, our ranger traps are broken - you throw them and they have no effect whatsoever. Also we get a mere 2 additional traps, while the Scout line has I believe 9. Would be nice to see traps that are more damaging, or longer duration on our old traps.

I think most Elite professions are in the same boat. I can understand starting professions not granting too much, but the Elite professions should make us much deeper in terms of abilities. As it currently stands, most of the starting professions seem to provide more than the Elite professions.
