And that's what really gets to me. The decisions for major changes (actually, most changes) in the game always seem to be made without asking for the opinions of the players first. No one ever asked for this. The devs made up their own minds and thought it was better for the game.

I'd not mentioned this here when it was first spotted as it's being regarded as a bug, atm.

Vehicles can also be called immediately after combat. Pets still require 15s delay to call.
This looks like buggy behaviour.

However, it is known that there are some changes to vehicles coming, so it might be intended.

like they actually tell us anything these days.

With the new patch notes it is not a bug (although why pets have to still have a timer when they're some CH's only weapon still makes no sense).

As I often said back when the timer was added and the need for camps removed though: If camps only use is pulling out pets and vehicles, then they are nothing more than an unnecessary annoyance. Get rid of their effect on this and implement something to make camps desirable.

It also gives us more ammunition to say our abilities provide little to no benefit for the skill cost and we need some serious attention.

I loved the downtime sitting around in camps after taking on a big kill. Healing up, trash talking, etc. this is the social part of the game that makes games like SWG so good. Otherwise you can just plug into your xbox or whatever and twitch away. Even battle fatigue is gone, you can fight forever and never get tired, pathetic.

100% agree. I would never support putting back something as annoying as only being able to call my vehicle in camps. I hated it even as a Ranger - what a waste of camps.

Speaking of camps:

Can you not help feel as if they are stepping on our toes yet again? Why does anyone placecamps anymore? It certainly doesn't have a tangible value, just as a piece of eye candy and a place to sit.

not with this change, no. I would rather be eye candy than eye candy + annoyance. I would feel like they were stepping on our toes if they gave modular camping to Squad Leaders (or Jedi /shudder), and not to us.

Back when we had to use camps to pull anything I was personally annoyed at having to take the time each time myself or a group member got our vehicle auto-stored on us (that used to happen a lot), to craft a camp and put it up. Finally I ran a factory of them, and was still annoyed that all the camp was used for was to pull a vehicle, leave, and let it rot. I would rather put up a camp when I want to, because it is useful, then to HAVE to, just to do one little thing.

Unfortunately they have never been made useful.

Well, it's in as a feature of the patch, so let the Sky Is Falling begin.

So that leaves us with camps for... healing wounds and applying Inspiration buffs. Oh, and for CH to pull their pets.

Yup, 'back in the day' of the re-storing bikes and pets, it was useful to have a camp to get your bike out again 'quick'. If you were organised you kept a couple of camps already for use, if you were a real camp nerd you kept them on your toolbar...

Now? I'm having REAL difficulty looking at this and NOT seeing it as the final nerf for 1/4 of our tree.

Ah well. Plus ca change.

So apparently TC didn't get publish notes when it was last cycled, but here is my favorite note from one of the players:

Could we have some notes to what was changed yesterday please?

Cause so far we've seen the following

Speeders/bikes and vehicles being able to be summoned instantly regardless of where you are.

I remember a day when camps were required to call a speeder at all. Then for more than a year it's been you need a camp to save 15 seconds when calling a speeder or pet. And there that use goes.

It's just been an aweful SWG weekend for me, this really tops it off. Only good news I've had is that I found a way to save 15% on my car insurance... or maybe that was someone else.

It's really not that bad.

Our camps should benefit players, not be a nuisance to them.

I mean, back in the good old days, when we had groups of players out hunting rancors etc, sitting down in a camp after the battle, having a chat, healing... and pulling out your vehicle was all part of the game.

These days it's; move in, kill kill kill, move on to the next mission. The Devs have decided to eliminate social downtime and in return increase the grind by adjusting to a steeper XP curve.

The real problem is that they didn't take the time to drop by and discuss this with us first.

or, look at it THIS way...

<warning! warning! Danger Will Robinson, cynicism ahead!>

With the absolute uselessness of camps now, would it REALLY hurt, other than losing eye candy, if camping was no longer a pre-req for Ranger? We COULD potentially drop that entire line as a req, use the "3 tree" requirement already proposed in a couple threads. That right there gets us to what, around 120-ish skill points, and in theory we still keep all the useful bits from Scout that the majority of us use

<end of cynicism>

Of course, I actually DO use camps. Including the HTFB. And I'd miss them terribly, but no so terribly if we instaed had a semi-perm Hunting lodge that could be dropped on ANY planet, or a hunting blind that gave insane bumps to accuracy and defenses or something along those lines. Or some fortified locations divided up between Ranger and SL in the modular camp idea, but that don't necessarily require the scout camping line? I mean, BH's can use rifles and pistols and carbines without having those lines from Marksman, right? So why can't we keep modular Ranger camps without requiring the Scout camping line? Scout camps can be "camps". Ranger camps can be geared towards more hunting / trapping / survival / group support type functions (largely defensive) / healing / etc.

Dropped some camps right on top of lairs yesterday.

Serves no purpose whatsoever, but its nice to get my revenge on kreetles by spawning on them for a change.

(That sounded way wrong...)

I'm guessing that 'if' I could get the lair in/under a tent then it would probably be a case of 'can't see target' but so far haven't managed to get it just right. If that was the case it'd have griefing possibilities, but still checking.

Here is my hope.

You know Image Designers were confused when they could no longer make stat migrations, right? Then stats themselves were removed shortly after.

Maybe we are getting Combat Camps in the near future?
