Glad to see the SL are getting some attention. Hopefully our time will come soon.

I wonder if it would be a fun suggestion, given the group XP changes, to suggest that perhaps SLs might be the profession that would, in some way, "negate" some of the group XP "loss" brought about by this change. Maybe by virute of boosting the group bonus by some additional percentage, or adding a few points to the %age used, or something. Good for SLs, making them MUCH more desired for groups since they'll ensure you maximize your XP. Not sure if they WANT a role like that tho...

Novice SL boosts group XP by +5 to % bonus

pick a branch, give it another +5 to % bonus for boxes2 and 4

Master SL boosts grou XP by +10 to % bonus

So if the group bonus is 25% for a group of 8, then XP looks like (FullXP*1.50)/8 instead of (FullXP*1.25)/8 if you have a master SL in your group.

A mob that grants a solo player 6000 xp would give a "current" group-of-8 938sp, and in this case might give a MSL led group 1125xp instead.

I'm not even sure if that makes sense, but it might help them and stop some of the whining about the bugs in group XP calculation being fixed. I AM glad they're getting attention either way... they have a role, but no reason to PLAY it in the current game.

Well it looks like we can plan on waiting a loooooong time for anything to happen to Ranger. JFreeman says Sl's will be getting attention by Publish 24 or 25. While I am very happy for our brethren in the SL community, it also means we get pushed back (if we were ever on the radar) again.

Who says we aren't going to be worked on concurrently? I know, I know...just saying.

Well, we're not saying that anyone said we AREN'T getting anything Calc... but conversely, can you point to a Red Name post here in the recent past that had anything to do with any Ranger issues? We have Tiggs' "we need a new corr" template post a few days after Owen announced that he's stepping down, we had the TH cryptic post here a month or two back that was along the lines of "we want info from the SWG community, we need your help" and nothing more.... other than that, the only thing I can recall in recent memory was actually Tiggs' response to my question (and the debate it sparked in that thread) in the harvest bonus thread that clarified if the Master Ranger bonus would apply to yourself, or would require a 2nd Master in the group so that each Ranger could / would get the bonus. And that was pre-CU even.

So... trying to stay "up" about things, very appreciative of the small fixes, but dang it all... traps are WAY more broken than the ability for novice scouts on upto drop camps on lairs (for what purpose too?). Heck, 3/4 of Ranger is "more broken" than some of the fixes we HAVE gotten. I know it sounds like we're all kicking the gift horse in the teeth, but I certainly hope that this means that they're working on a whole new trapping system (like the CH revamp we just saw) and not the alternative, which is that they're not working on, well... anything. Same for Tracking, camo/conceal/stealth skills, modular camping, etc.

The issue I have in all of it, tho, is that we've repeatedly been told and heard that the devs don't even have a clue what a Ranger does or what role Ranger has. So if they ARE off redesigning stuff for us, I'm not feeling so good about that give the lack of actual posts or dialog of any kind between the community and them. I remain guardedly optimistic, but like you and many others, reserve the right to flip flop my views.

Actually, Oppma said we would be pushed back even further, Aragorn...

You never know what the devs have in store for us. There are a few systems they can work on without having a direction in mind. Just making traps work would be a huge thing that doesn't really need a direction (they can still make them work correctly against critters). Do I really believe that the devs are secretly working on us? Not a chance, but I try to stay positive, and keep people from sinking too far into despair.

Besides, who's to say that the devs haven't secretly decided our fate and are working to fullfil it? (lol)

yah, I know, I know. That's why I said I was guardedly optimistic too. It's too easy to slip into "OMG! We're the smart people and we've been nerfed again!" mentality. That's why curretnly I spend most of my game time flying, racking up prestige points, helping others get to Ace, and hunting for the ever elusive Black Sun Ace helmet.

So yah, they might be working on stuff. We could all be pleasantly surprised to see Tiggs, or Jfreeman, or one of the other devs pop in here today or tomorrow or whenever and say "Surprise! We've got this cool new trapping / tracking / stealth system about to hit TC, we need you to test it".. I'm not holding my breath for it, though.

And I do tend to agree with Oppma, this MORE than likely means that we'll see love later vs sooner. I believe the "priority order" we've heard for a while was something like ":Jedi, BH, a bit of Smuggler, Jedi, BH, Jedi, Jedi, Jedi, Jedi, SL, Jedi, BH, Jedi, Nerf-Herders, Jedi, Rangers..."

I was the unfortunate soul to inform Taeko that Jedi and Riflemen got radar concealment.

Much anger and sadness, I sense.

this is good news for the entire game, as i see it.

first (first in my experience, there might've been other revamps before i showed up and started taking notes) CH gets a helping hand, making their pets have the potential for greatness. now, droid engineers (apparently) have had their droids returned to usefulness. and with this post, squad leaders are getting some love. that leaves rangers and smuggling missions for smugglers, as i see it
