I think it WOULD make camps useful. I can't remember what the devs told us when they shot down the idea when we proposed it in the past (was it in the 19 questions?). It's an oldie, but one that must not be forgotten!

I think it would have unbalanced the economy by making it too easy to pull credit missions in the wild and all the extra organices it would introduce into the economy if I recall correctly *rolleyes* and there might have been something about creating too many mission lairs out in the wilds???
*disclaimer: I may have imagined some of that

Wasnt it the excuse of NPCS cities and player cities would be Useless. or some kind crapola like that?.

My idea (as warped as it may sound), would be to sort of combine missions and /areatrack. Areatrack just isn't working well as we know it... most of what I find are existing missions of other players and I miss anything wild that hasn't spawned since no one has driven past it in the last x minutes. We're also limited to 500m with the current system.
If we were able to hit /areatrack, it could pop up a random list of all available creatures in the area (including the chance of things like Peko Peko Albatrosses, etc). It could be a mixture of orignal creature level and mission-level. To keep balance, they would have to do it in a way that we could not sit there and hit /areatrack until an Elite appears... maybe something like... each 2000m square area has a set "list" for an hour or so. The original creature level spawns could be standard size, and the mission-level spawns could be based on your group.
Once you find the creature/NPC that you would like, you could opt to track that one, which would essentially spawn it when you got within x meters. As this is NOT a scan of the area, but rather a mission-type mechanic, we could get past the 500m lag-inducing look-ahead that SOE has based their decision on not to extend the range.
I do not think that this should generate any mission-payouts at all, it's just using a ranger's tracking skill, so those who are looking for money-making ventures would still have to go to NPC and player cities. It would also not be the quickest grind method, as you could only spawn one mission at a time, and may likely have to drive 1500m to get to it.
We would obviously have to retain the current type of /areatrack for the purposes of tracking things like the Hero quests, other players, etc., so... the existing one could be /areatrack1, and this new proposed method could be /areatrack2, available at Master Ranger.
/shrug Seemed like a fun idea to me anyway... I'm sure there would be opinions on both sides of the issue.
