Thread: How do you price your harvests?

I've been trying to figure out a good way to price my harvests... so here's what i'm going to start doing

for hide:
(OQ+SR+MAL)/10 + (demand/difficulty)

demand/difficulty is a number i make up between 1-10 according to how much work i put into it, the difficulty of the creatures i had to take down, and the current demand of that particular harvest in the market. You also should factor in travel expense, etc. Since i'm based out of Talus, a trip to endor costs me 10k including cloning.

So, for example... there's wooly hide on tatooine right now with 996OQ, 907SR, and 350ish MAL. Banthas aren't that hard, so the market while it's still interested in the hide, might not pay as great a price because anyone can kill it.

so that would put it at 2253/10 = approx 22cr/unit, then add a demand/diff rating... i'd say 2-3 would be fair. and final price would be 25cr/unit for an amazing wooly hide.

with meat:

(OQ + PE or Flavor)/10 + demand/diff.

it's gone now but there was good avian meat on lok, used for buffs by docs, was in great demand.

940+920 = 1860

approx 19cr/unit. The demand was very high, and diff of perleks are much higher than banthas. so, i would rate this as a 7 and would be about 26cr/unit. Naturally specific meat types validate higher or lower demand. I wasn't using this method when i harvested these, but i ended up selling for 30cr/unit and sold out.

Not sure who uses bone, or what stats they're looking for, so you're welcome to chime in.

These prices might seem kind of high, but so far this method has been working for me. With lower quality harvests, i tend to lower prices, mainly because it won't sell. and usually lower quality harvests won't be that hard to get. This is really something you need to decide for yourself. Sometimesthe addedstat number will be lower because both stats are mediocre... this would be a lower price than if something had one really high stat and one really low stat.

Hope this helps.

Wow, that's a fairly complex rule. If you have customers that are looking for the very high end stuff, it might work, because they can appreciate the stats.

For most people (assuming you are selling on the bazaar), that might make for a tougher sale. As always with selling, it depends on your customer base.

In my experience, the most educated customers tend to be medics. They know the value of good herbivore meat. Bone and hide might be a bit tougher to sell overall, but if you calculate the demand appropriately, you should still be able to move them through the bazaar.

Try to establish prices based on what people get for what they make with your harvests...

Try to figure what other professions can make in a given period of time selling their wares.

Figure in your effort harvesting manually as opposed to mechanical harvestors harvesing minerals etc. (what does it take to get X amount of steel lets say,and what does it take to get X amount of hides lets say)

Do you have to travel to another planet to get the resource?

Is your resource specifically required tocraftan item? (example wooly hide, or certain meat for meds)

and so on

Wow, I didn't realize a calculator was required for this game. Too much for me, but sounds like a plan

Welcome to freaking algebra class...AHHHHHH I hate math

Stuff is between 2 and 4 cpu depending on what it is, the OQ, specific traits, and if someone ordered it or not. Regular harvest goes on the bazaar at about 3 cpu, no more than 1k lots. You order something specific, like Avian meat, or herbie meat, the price is between 2 and 3, depending on what deals you can cut for me. Really good stuff goes for 4 cpu. Rare stuff is another story... I save that for trades or sell it to the highest bidder...as the 300 units of reptile meat I had with 900+ OQ, went for 150 Pet stim Cs and a discount on further purchases.

Once again, help the noobs, once in a while toss em free stuff. Like that 250 units of hide you have not used in forever.

just wanted to mention Doctors only want 2 kinds of meats:

Herbiovore meat - used for advanced chem relase duration OQ is 66% and PE 33% where large quantity can be more desirable than quality so if you can get large amounts of avg quality meat you can charge a premium for quantitie

Avian Meat - used for enhance packs OQ/PE probobly 66%/33% for power and OQ/DR i think 66%/33% for duration . so you should consider DR too for it in your calculation.

anyways i tried to work on a pricing method for meat i worked out a decent formula for markup for quantity

multiplier = (1+log10((quntity)/(quantity to make n componants)))

for example for herbivore meat n = 5 the multiplier= 1+ log10(quntity/80)

so you get multiplier of2 for 800 and multiplier of 3 for 8000 you can adjust the n as much as you want

you should probobly use an exponential scale for quality like

factor^((quality-base)/50) where ^ signifies power

I'm always amazed at the individuals that can ask, and get, 25 cr/unit. Good job!

I've never been able to get that much for any particular item, regardless of stats. The best price I've seen is about 10 cr/u. I do think things vary a lot based on server, and perhaps I'm notthe best negotiator

I can sell large quantities of bone without any problems. Armorsmiths generally eat it up very fast. Low quality stuff is 4-5 c/u, medium quality is 6-7, high quality is 8-10 c/unit. The best profits come from planet-specific resources (i.e., Dantooine Bone). I judge quality by the particular stats my customers are looking for (often OQ and SR).

Really, talking to artisans, scanning the forums, and browsing through schematics will give you a good idea of what people need. Once you find a method that works for you, by all means, stick to it!

Flits? Pharples? Very easy mobs to get avian meat from on Lok. For me, getting avian on Lok is easier than on any other planet (as a meleer) as flits and pharples are social and will literally kill themselves on me while perleks are not social and give a lot of meat relative to their difficulty.
