Thread: ranger mission terminals?
"does anyone know if there are plans to implement these in the future?"
Exactly what would such a terminal provide, in the form of missions?
- We already haveterminals in game which provide Hunting missions and Recon missions.
Is there another form of mission that you might be interested in having available?
In Keren, I unequip my weapon and get 45 creature flesh-eating chubbs or capper spineflap missions. I walk the 1400m or so to my house to do house-y things and walk back and I typically complete the missions by the time I get back to the starport. Woo! It's like, free 2400credits.
I rather enjoy the explorer missions. It's a pain to try and area track for the creatures though, will be a lot better when we get the tracking command. What I typically do is grab an explorer mission to kill 45 bocatts (pays 16k) Then I go to the normal mission terminal and grab a mission to destroy a bocatt lair (pays 4k). 3-4 of the destroy missions fullfills my 45 bocatts and I walk away with about 30k or so for an hour or 2's work. Not too bad.

Master Ranger - Eclipse
Ok I must be so green i leak sap...
What kind of weapon or abilities does one need to do bobcat missions and bobcat lair missions alone.
I admitI am new and still a fledgling Ranger, but Igotta say, I don't know how some of you do the things you say. I would really like to learn. I have several good Pistols ( 200dmg) and a decent Laser Rifle (427dmg) I have trapping to Sonic pulse and still have trouble with anything over 25 difficulty....
Are there skills I am missing or should get?
What am I missing?

Charles, it's all about traps for us. I soloed several Sharnaff bulls lastnight. Now I went through 3-4 Phecnecine traps per bull but I did it. Not sure how the rifleman do it, I only relearning that hunting style.
Here is my usual tactics for big beasts. Rollshot(takes you to kneeling so you get a little better accuracy and can get up fast to run) /suppresionfire to make them kneel and throw Phecnacine dart and glow wire traps.
Now that it's slowed down and temporarly not moving from suppresion fire, I hit it /healthshot so it bleeds for the battle. Then I proceed to hit it with bodyshots. I watch for the -snared- to pop up over its head, so I can throw another Phecnacine dart. If I miss that and it starts running at me, I hit warning shot hoping it turns and runs, then throw the phecanice dart.
If you're in trouble and need to back up or run for your life, keep an adhesive mesh handy. Also using terrain to your advantage is helpful. Use hills or gullies to keep the creatures slowed down while you are running along normal with terrain negotiation bonus. Taking on high level creatures one one is not to bad with good tactics and traps. Its when you get the assistive creatures that it goes all to heck.
Hope that helps.
i was thinking of terminals that only rangers can access. with missions along the lines of, for instance, a weapon designer has invented a new trap, and needs an experienced ranger to try it out on a multitude of different, dangerous critters. Or an Artisan that needs a few resources from a small number of rare creatures, that only appear during these missions, and may require a few planet hops to acquire.(increasing reward amounts, as well as an opportunity for rangers to have very rare hides, bones and meat to sell later.).
Perhaps missions that require "tagging" a few animals for a research facility.
missions that require the use of camps, camo, masked scents and traps, all to document animal behavior for researcers.
Anything, really, to make the ranger class more viable, especially where the economy is concerned.
