I can harvest twice what a master scout can (approx) , I have very fancy camps with crafting stations. I have camo which when used with a conceal allows me hide from npc's and creatures. I trap better than a scout and I have tracking. Creature to hit bonuses.

I can track people, creatures and other players. I crawl faster than any one.

Its isn't soo much WHAT the point isof being a ranger, its more about what you do with your abilities.

Rangers just like scouts have some of the best creature combat abilities in traps. lower defense, ranged and melee, mind damage and blind, stun, slow, root etc.

I've spent almost 4-5 days with out ever going back to town. Just me my rifle my dog and my camp.

I like this statement. Can I use it in my sig?

"I've spent almost 4-5 days with out ever going back to town. Just me my rifle my dog and my camp."

I just do not just look at trees, I sometimes even hug them or rub myself against it singing about the bare necessities in life.

And on other occasion, when I see a new forest for the forest time, I look for a strategic situated tree and raise a leg. Not sure whyI do that, but I heard rumors something that suggests that is normal for us Bothans.

Point of being a ranger though is

  • I like exploration and the outdoors.
  • I am a hunter and forestor.
  • I most at home in areas that are rarely visited by civilized folks.
  • I have seen the most beautiful sunsets and experienced amazing thunderstorms
  • I only kill what is needed for myself and friends.
  • I take pleasure in finding a small creek, pond or a small valley, knowing that no humanoids has disturebed the fauna in ages.
  • I feel I am in harmony and balance with the wild. This is where I belong. This is my place in the galaxy.

Now if I just kill that fool that just trampled through my mountains, swinging his big gun (obviously compensating for something), shouting for this or that or killing babies or same small animal because he/she can.

People are Melee and People are Bountry Hunters. Melee you dont really get enough skills, so you become a Ranger. Bounty Hunters can be both...

    The point is its fun...

Etzel, you are a Master CH and Master Ranger? Is that a good combo, because that is what I intend to do with my new Wookie character on Wanderhome.

Ranger and CH compliment each other well

1)They bothuse the same basic profession (scout)

2)I can track mobs well for looking for babies

    3) Camo works better (or supposed to) then Maskscent, helping me approach lairswith less hassle

4)I have a wide variety of pets to do be my damage dealers and tanks

    5) I travel bestcross-country

6)It fitsmy image ofrangers living with nature, taming creatures as companions, preferring the animal over the civilized man.

Is it the best combo? It really depends what you want to do in SWG. I find it suits my current playstyle. I have always stuff to do when I am online, from taming creatures for friends and other creature handlers, to hunting down and harvesting resources.

I know when I log on, I have currently about 5 mobs in my datapad ready for transfer, and I have an order for another 6 or 7 mobs to fill within the next few days. I also need to get some resources for some friends and guildmates, and also more resources for my equipment such as camps and camo kits.

Now, I know I am gimp when it comes to PVP. My pets can rip through a lot of players, but normally I am long dead. Then again, SOE's vision of PVP is so gimped, and even though I love (and miss) PVP, I do notlook for it in SWG, because regardless what SOE claims, imo, SWG is really SIMS in Space.

Once again, it depends what you want and how you play to get that good combo of professions.

    I don't know.

    I must be a crackhead.

Actually, the reason why is because I'm not a CH.

    Yeah, that's it.

Lemme see -- why am I a Ranger?

BH - boring, broke and filled with whiners, no thanks

CH - cool, did it for a while, but other than getting megapets,,,

Medic/doctor - got some skills there, sorta boring too, wandering around fixing dullards too stupid to get outta the way of rampaging beasties

Artisan - OMG, boring to the max -- here, lemme craft a shirt for ya --- gag --- let me check numerous harvestors twice a day - nope not for me

Entertainer - don't even go there. same same chef, hairdress, image designer, froot loop, whatever

Brawler - yeah, spend most of my early game time getting fixed, no thx

I wanted to be a smuggler, til I found out they don't smuggle. I wanted to be a Squad Leader, til I found out there is no squad. Commando - brawler, nope.

Well, that left scout and ranger. And it was fun. As I progressed, I killed better beasts. From running from anything red to now honestly debating should I or not to engage on red cons. I don't hang out in town much, just to clear off BF, dump a load of hides/meat/bone on the bazaar and back out to adventure. My camps heal me, while I craft traps and more camps. I only have to buy weapons and stims, and the stims are a luxury, not a necessity, but I hate running, heal and shoot more. Yeah, its fun to maskscent and pop a round or three into a bull sharnaff, then lead the two chasing me into a wrix lair... 4k xp for watching...try that as an artisan. Its fun to help the CHs, the Artisans, the Medics... I can get what they need.

But alas, I guess Dromare is right, all I do is look at trees. Maybe I should go to Tatooine to live, few trees, I could look at rocks for a change.

You get away from a lot annoying people that is one bonus.

I will state what many Rangers like about the professions they love the fact they can go deep in the woods for a long time hunt and enjoy the sights and sounds of the wilderness.

I guess one of my favorite Ranger moment would be when I ran to those high peaks in the south in Yavin and knowing there was not a soul in sight for hundreds of meters.
