Thread: i can solo jedi knights but light blue cons kill me
nothing like hunting with friends on dathomir's rugged terrain to remind a master ranger that the class has its benefits. While out today solo, checking on the current quality of resources I stumble across a dark adept and a dark jedi knight. Ifigure getting ripped apart by a lightsabre is well worth a trip to the cloning facilty so i hit the adept with mindshot 1&2 and run for my life. After a couple headshot 3's i realize first that medium armour and 80% resists makes for one tough chick, but it also becomes evident that she needs to get within melee range and can't close the distance over the rough terrain. Once she died and i collected my 1200 credit reward i was determined to give the jedi knight try. I don't know what his HAM was but with heavy armour 90% resists i don't think it matters. Powerup the t21, scarf down some moun gold, hit him with my opening salvo mindshot1&2 - mindshot 1&2 - headshot 3 whenever mind bar permitted. Several valleys and mountain ranges later happily collected my 3000cr reward (I've opened way too many empty loot boxes to expect anything worthwile). While standing over his corpse i receive the ranger / rifleman death sentance "a creature has detected you" a blue con purbole teleports to my location I miss, he hits, i miss, i miss, he hits, I clone.
Getting ripped up by a lightsabre would have been cool getting ripped up by something that looks like a seasame street puppet is not. Just thought I'd share my story while waiting for my partner to log on, I know lots of players can solo jedi's but nice to know rangers can do it without pets, knockdowns, or exploits.

I have the same problem when the mobs warp and get a first hit before i even have time to unequip my weapon. I can kill sharnaff bulls easy, but when i get a add i die go down with one hit.

He was saying that his ability to traverse terrain faster thAn the dark jedis could while following him is why he was able to bleed them do death. They must close to melee range in order to hit him, but they could not catch him... That is because he is a ranger.
Congrats on the solo -- one for the books certainly.
Sorta goes with what I been saying all along - supplement your Ranger skills (running up hills really fast) with a combat weapon ( Rifle) and you kick some serious butt.
In a similar case, three of us took on a multiple Dark JediMasters (spawn site) a single at a timeand used the tactic of firing from 3 different places, keeping the DJM running between us, never getting to any one of us. One fires, DJM moves, Two fires, DJM moves, Three fires, DJM moves, it was sorta fun. That was one tired Jedi.
And lightsabers hurt - 2000 damage. Lights out one hit.

To me that says he just ended up happening upon the dum and dummer of the dark jedi. Really thats just bad NPC AI not pc overpowering.
Kudos to you using your hard earned skills to their max to pull off a couple of really nice kills!
I agree, the benefits of being a slippery ranger combined with a good weapon will take down most opponents.
The other day I was on dathomir, when I saw a red dot on the radar....no big....its dathomir....i cant throw a rock and not hit an aggro creature. I target the thing to see what it is. BAM a dark jedi master (who looks suspiciously like Richard Nixon) Hmmmmmm....anyway. I am with a commando and a novice CH. The pets go down first while I pump him with a bleed shot. And for the first time ever....when i warning shot him, he fled into the water where we proceeded to pound him. He gets back out with half health and runs straight for me. I start to kite up and down hills, aggroing a few baz nitches on the way. All the while he is still chasing me. (i am resisting the urge to screenshot) the CH goes down, the commando is still firing and then...we finally kill him. The baz's stop chasing me and I relax, set up camp and relax. (apparently directly on the dark jedi spawn point) when an obese zabrak dark jedi master pops up and skewers me with his lightsaber. The elation that we had when we took the first one out faded quickly as we were punked by another one. Ah well....
Yes traverse terrain faster than the Dark Jedi could, but that is a Scout Skill not a Ranger skill, it would be that four letterN word the Scouts. Unless he did all this while crawling, then it would be looked at.
And if you did this while crawling, even more congrats to you. By the way good job on the Jedis.
