Thread: IF YOUR HOLO SAID RANGER READ HERE...
Ok, given the fact that all of us received our free holo today, the influx of "The holocron told me to be master ranger, what do i do?" posts are going to start rolling in... I'm posting this with the current post title in hopes that all of us who were told to do ranger will see it and not start a billion threads.
Obviously, us non-ranger players are gonna know the best tips and fastest routs to becoming Masters. Anyone out there wanting to provide the tips and what not, we would be greatly obliged.
Thanks to everyone who provides feedback. Lets try to keep this thread updated for the next few days so that it remains near the top of the forum as to prevent MULTIPLE (meaning dozens and dozens) of threads being started about this topic.
I don't think all you holo-grinders are going to get a warm reception from the dedicated. Be warned.
I've been a master ranger fora fewmonths now and I have a couple tips. I'd say the hardest branch to master is thefrontiering line. It used to be the only way to get XP for this was to lay down a camp and sit in it. It was extremely boring, extremly tedious and took forever. Now however in addition to camping, crafting items and fishing also grant this XP. I found that setting up my biggest camp possible in a high traffic area like Fort Tusken or some other popular POI and crafting away on traps and camps was the quickest way to work my way up the tree. If it gets boring or you just need to break up the monotony, grab a fishing pole and do a little sport fishin.

I felt the easiest line to master was the trapping line. Get in a SMALL group of hunters that are lookin for bigger game, and rather than fire a single shot, just lob trap after trap after trap. You can usually crank out a few thousand XP per animal. The reason I say get in a smaller group is that you want the animal to take a bit longer than 5 seconds to die. That way you can fire off more traps.
My next tip is: Harvest EVERYTHING. Harvesting is a good source of XP and builds up your valuable reserves of bone/hide/meat. Not only are these the main source of your crafted items, they also tend to be your bread and butter on the bazaar. Doctors are in constant need of these supplies and most will pay top dollar for high quality materials.
Those are my suggestions. I want to wish you all good luck on your quest for the force and perhaps you'll enjoy the title of Ranger so much you might even hang on to it a while longer. Ranger isn't the toughest or even well rounded profession available. But those of us that chose Ranger on our own know that there's a special meaning behing the title of Master Ranger.
Always have your scent masked no matter WHERE you are or WHAT you are doing. Even if you're with a group in the squill caves - be the last to fire and you'll get maskscent xp from the squill fighting your tank.
I've been having a blast with groups at the squill caves lately on Corbantis. If they leave you behind, you can still harvest their trail of corpses, which is CS, but still counts!
Good Hunting,
Awasa Ago on Corbantis
DO NOT SIT IN A CAMP LIKE A LUMP ON A LOG ALL ALONE.
Craft more camps, heal, sing, dance, it all counts for survival xp. Use the best camp you got, more xp for the higher level camps.
Camp with friends. 8 people in a camp doing stuff, max camp in 8 minutes. One man, sitting, 21 minutes, do the math.
Don't macro camp, unless you like taking 51 minutes per camp. You waste 30 minutes per camp, as camps do not disband on command in macros. You could afk kill butterflies outside Tyrena and get more scout xp than macro camping.
Maskscent all the time. Get a speeder, maskscent, drive around Endor or Lok. Watch the xp roll in.
If it moves, kill it and harvest it. Never anything too small to kill and harvest. You will need hides and bone for campsas well asmeat for some traps.
Traps - toss one of each type you have at any target, shoot, toss more traps, shoot. Get a group, go to Dantooine/Endor/Lok. Do not shoot, just toss traps and harvest. You will master two lines in a day or two.
That's about it. I don't fish. I trapped out in 2 days. Maxed scout xp in 3 (2 lines use the same xp). Camping took a week, but I was grinding pistol and went with friends, so I took my time. It can be done in days.
Helpful hints, and read Briscs Scout Manual, it also applies to Rangers.

mine said chef, fat freaking chance of that happening
Happy Holiday Holo!
Well I am chuffed I got Master Ranger....and strangely enough I was already working on it anyway. Best holo I could have got.
The use of vehicles now makes it easier, the running about with scent masked is vital, but try a dash across Lok with your scent masked and watch the scounting points pile-on. Charging around a mob in a circle will stack it on also.
The only down side is that when it wears off you will need to dismount to apply it again, and when on Lok for example, take care where you stop....!
Plonking a camp outside Coronet and offering free foraged food to passing hunting parties was my thing also, call it grinding but I also met a lot of new players doing this. The crazy situation with the patch and the laggy vehicle graveyeard helped also as players would prefer to use the crafting station in my camp than the ones in the city....
Personally I like being aRanger / Marskman, forget Holo's, it's a decent enough profession. Link up with an Artisian or a Bio and use your /Area Track: Animals to locate specific resources for them, or tie up with a BH and use /area track: people & players to zero in on their marks once their driods have located the city. Thats what I have been doing and its rewarding enough.
Celestrial in game on Blood
Forgive me, but I was under the impression that once a holo has been activated it is effectively destroyed unless it is silent. I could be wrong, as I have the 2 gift holo's and haven't used them. Probably won't either. I'm Mastering Ranger because I want to, not so I can become a Jedi.
Good Luck to all and most importantly, Good Hunting!
