Okay... the usefulness will depend greatly on what other skills you have... but I have used this more and more and I thought I would share some of my observations.
The way the rescue skill works, for those that don't know.. is that you can use this to make any MOBs that are aggroing someone else, change and aggro you. Here are some really great uses I have found for this skill.
1. Saving newbs or non-combatants. When your Dancer/Doctor starts getting molested by that Baz Nitch... you can pull the critters to you and either deal with them or burst run and lure them away. If you are a TKA or Swordsman or something like that you can pull them in and do your business while saving some other member of your party. Not recommended for Rifleman
If done properly, /rescue followed by a retarget and attack command to your pets will work nicely as well.
2. Ordinarily, you need the person you are rescueing to "peace" when you hit "rescue", or else the creature will just aggro them again and you won't have accomplished anything. However, I have noticed that if you do this properly, WITHOUT having your fellow hunter use "peace", where he/she is continually blasting with pistol or carbine and you are continually declaring "rescue" ... you can make a creature sort of "hover" in spot, like they can't decide who to go after. They will keep turning left and right without being able to get any closer to either one of you. If I am running low on my mind pool (I am a Rifleman) I will sometimes do this for a break from blasting everything to hell.
3. When fighting big game, like pre-patch Krayts, Kimos, and Blurg Raptors, we have found it sometimes effective to use a "bleed and run" tactic. I have done this with burst run, on mounts, and on a speederbike. If you get everyone bleeding the creature, then the Ranger calling "rescue" (while everyone else "peaces") you can get a nice stack of bleeds and even initial damage shots off before you have to zoom away on your mount. It can be repeated for round after round, the rest of the party single shotting and peaceing while the Ranger rescues and evades. VERY fun to be the Ranger in this one I must say. As along as the MOB doesn't warp, my kaadu has no problems outrunning them.. and with the speeder? Fa-get-a-boud-it. (Although, I did lose a speeder bike in a "proximity experiment" with a Post-patch Krayt
)

Rescue is a great skill...but only in the right circumstances and if you use it wisely.
And if you have luck.
The main problem whith Rescue is that it can end in suicide. Unless you're a higher level combat class, attracting the attention of a mad creature, especially a high-level one generally isn't a great idea.
It can work great with some classes, like Marksman where you can fire off a warning shot right after attracting, or if you're a good melee class.
I think Rescue needs something added to it, like a much longer delay between the actual Rescue action and the charge of the creature at you.
Interesting idea combining it with the mount, I'm going to have to try that!

Would be a good skill if Ranger coukd take the damge once they get the aggro
In a nice set of comp I fair, but overall it would be nice to see Ranger's get some skill that could save there hide in combat![]()
