Thread: Any Tips For a Novice Ranger?
Others will disagree with me on this, but I have recently changed my view on the camping matter.
Search the forum for camping macros, they are out there, it's the grind of the year is camping, with so little return. If you want to do it the "natural" way go for it, make sure that you get as many people healed as possible whilst in your camp and also sit there and grind camps in praccy mode, all gives XP.
Traps, throw em like there is no tomorrow, join a hunt for the good ol snarfs and lob the lot at em, let the rest of the grp do the attacking. When you have leveled a bit more do the same with the mighty Rancor. In short, throw traps, then throw a lot more. There is no other way.
Thats good idea, i didnt even consider that ![]()
Are the traps we make good enough to take down high lvl mobs? ie..mutant rancs..ect?
I am only against macro camping as it wastes freaking time. You can max out camping in as little as 4 camps a box, if you have enought resources and you craft your lil fingers off.
Anyone who wants to stay Ranger and gets to Master by macro camping should be shot, hung, drawn, quartered, then made to go the BH or Jedi forum for an entire day; Grinders, who gives a fat durnis butt, get your stuff and move along, you are not gonna be here long enough to matter.
Trapping - if it moves, trap it. Paralopes can't hurt you if you are armored - trap them til you run out of traps - the same traps you crafted while camping. Or get with a group going to a high level planet and trap til you are blue in the face.
Altho I gotta clue ya, I maxed traps twice first tree, what is the big deal with trapping?

Mastering scout wasnt hard, it seems Ranger is the same type of grind...
make a camp
craft some traps
kill some stuff
/harvest
wash
rinse
repeat
what is the best trap we have?
Scout traps.
do we get trap XP if their thrown from a droid?
Maybe...I think so.
do we get XP for camo kits?
You get xp for sneaking past critters (undetected)while masked.
is it better to make a crate of camps and craft traps, or grind both?
It is probably easier to craft a few camps, then start your grind.
For buidling up large amounts of trapping xp, glow-wire traps are good, since you don't have to wait for them to wear off. Find a group and tell them you just want to chuck traps. GWTs will drop creatures' defenses (ranged and melee), so who wouldn't like that?
For hunting solo, p.darts are good to have as they slow creatures to a crawl, and adhesive mesh roots them. However, you only get 2 AMTs in a stack whereas you get 5 PDTs. Once they're slow/rooted, whack them with GWTs. Or, if you want, use the scout traps that do mind damage. That'd be pretty hip, and you'd totally earn the "Trap Master" title!
I'll be 100% honest
I'm as Ranger as anyone where- and I'm only 0/0/3/0. Some people will hollar at me because I'm not a full ranger- I'm only taking the single useful line, but still.
I was able to Master Rifleman, Creature Handler, Scout, and go 0/0/3/0 in Ranger in my skill simulator. So this is what I'm shooting for. Might change though, as I progress up CH. So far, its a pain in the ass. I might drop it like I did Chef ![]()
