i think it would be pretty cool to have automated gun turrets surrounding the advanced field bases. not something with a large ham but something that puts up a moderate offence to go with the laser fences. or maybe have a factionalfield base that comes with small turrets and flags for whatever given faction though the faction field base may be used for exploitation. Has anyone else thought of this yet?

Go for it. You can do this now. If you are overt, you can buy turrets at your Field Base for FP, and drop them right outside the base. Of course, once you start fighting the camp goes away, but htese are the breaks.

Might be useful for me to do now that I've become a Squad Leader. I have almost no combat skills at all now (novice marksman plus the ranged support tree) so there is no reason for me to start fighting. I just wonder if I'll be able to keep my FP stocks up without combat skills...

Hmm, might work. Although I don't seem to be as weak as I thought I would be (and it seems I can get even stronger). I should have a CL 19 CH pet when everything is done (should have it already but I lost quite a bit to caps when training) and it seems I can have a droid out as well (also around CL 19 with the new ones). I just need to get a bit more CH xp and a new droid. And, if the Squad Leader bonuses work on non-player group members, this should be a reasonably powerful combo. I'm actually having less trouble killing crazed durnis and kreetles now than I did back when the rifle damage multiplier was in (and I had a bit of rifle skill). I doubt I'll be able to solo hunt on the advanced planets, though (maybe Yavin hunting for mamiens but we'll see).
