Hi,

Since I started playing (just 2 weeks ago ) I decided I wanted to do master ranger, but now I'm starting having my doubts...

How can I say, to be ranger you need to get too full profs... scout and evidently ranger, and I don't think that their abilities are good enought...

So I wanted you, experienced huys , help me dilucidate what to do, I love the idea of ranger, exploring the vast space and all the freedom of play it gives, but I found a rather elevated cost of skill points, also you have to learn some combat ability, and not just marksman, but some of the elite if you wanna hunt bigger things, like rancors... so what you think about it, is ranger a good prof.?

and exactly thats it- ranger is wonderful if you want to go out into the wilderness and hunt stuff- you can rancors kill easily while buffed and having a combat profession mastered (e.g. rifleman) .

A Ranger also earns much money by getting creature resources for various other professions like: Bio-Engineer, Doctor, Combat Medic, Medic, Artisan, Armorsmith, Architect.

I am currently a master ranger and master rifleman since 3 months and ive been enjoying it ever since.

In PvE, you will be effective with a master weapon profession, but not because you have ranger. With ranger, you will be able to harvest more...

Also, because of the skill point cost, the odds will be stacked against you in PvP because of all the combat stacked people who fight.

Im a ranger because thats how I have fun.

Lol, fast responses

That's why I want to be ranger too, I always played the explorer role in every game I played, and I spend nearly all my time in SWG exploring, not on cities, but I find it rather difficult to finish a picket lair, even when buffed, and then comes a frined of mine with his tka and destroys all them in seconds... I get somewhat depressed, not because he is toughter than I'm, he plays for it, just... that's my job! I should be the one hunting, and she should b e the one PvP, and getting all that 50 ips killed, I think that making ranger is more a feeling than anything else, I don't think scout or ranger abilities, to be that good... also, everybody can use even multiperson camp and nearly all traps... and just with novice you have the harvest options... maybe we can harvest more and better quality, but I don't think this abilities are enought to cost 144 skill points (and all the xp you need to get there

Anyway, I'm going for ranger, 'cause this is the way I feel my character, so, what profs you think would go good along? I thought on maybe CH or Squad Leader, ...

What you think?

Thx dwolfe an Nemo0, that was what I wanted to ear, that about combat levelling, I'm deciding between being squad leader and CH, my frineds say me I would be a great SL (oww...I love miself ), problem is I use to play solo alone, so my other options is CH, but if you say combat will be leveled in abut 2 months I think will do Ranger-SL and get the rest of points on pistoller or rifleman...

And yes, I'm doing ranger, 'cause is the kind of chara I love

If you want to know a bit about SL, I made a small post about my experiences with it quite recently. I think it was called "Ranger/Squad Leader". It should still be on the first page. I haven't had it for too long but I was on a few big hunts with it.

For effectiveness, master a combat profession.. though I gather you'd do best avoiding Carbineer or Pikeman at the moment. Particular favorites around here seem to be TKA and Rifleman. I'm a Rifleman myself, and there's nothing I can't solo with some patience.

For fun.. Follow your heart. The worst that can happen is that you try a profession that you dislike, or doesn't work the way you want, and you learn something new before moving on to something else.

I've never been anything other than a Scout/Ranger and Rifleman. I've never tried anything else. Other people would be better able to give you specific advice than I would, but I just want to stress one thing.. Whatever path you walk, walk it with your head high, your gaze roaming.. Don't put your nose in the dirt just to complete the grind.

As DWolfe said, pick a profession that you like. With the coming Combat Balance (about 2 months from now), the professions should be a bit more leveled out. So, if you like staying back, pick rifleman. If you like getting really close in, choose a melee profession or pistoleer. If you like going out in a group, pick Squad Leader (note that your solo skills will not be very high with this combo). If you like having pets, CH is good. If you don't like combat, Ranger lets you sample a bit easier with BE. You have plenty of options. Pick something that suits you.
