So we know (or am i making stuff up?) that radar invisibility will not happen because of game engine mechanics blah blah blah however much i want a Predator style cloaking device, not going to happen....soooooooooooo

What about disguises, granted i thought of this while watching Crocodile Dundee, where he fools the 'roo hunters by using the 'hide' (see where i'm going :smileyvery-happy of one of the 'roos.

Think about it, change our 'dot' on the radar to yellow, and we 'look' like the creature who's hide we've used! Sweet!

Personally i want to be a bearded jax and prowl the forests climbing trees and stuff but i have issues................erm, i think i should go to bed now

I really like this idea (it has been suggested before, and I lked it then, too) . Nothing would be better than watching that durni saunter up to you and whip out a T21 while spamming headshot! /drool....

And what happens when someone tried to shoot and skin you?

Dunno bout y'all, but more than once have I hid overt in a bunch of red aggros - and me all nicely maskscented - and waited for the unsuspecting bad guys to wander past.

I do like this idea tho. We camo and we go from blue/red to yellow.

Now if we can get our names to blink off.

One factor you will have to deal with: Packet Sniffers. I did discuss this in the original thread, however. there might be a way, but I don't have thier code in front of me to know.

The only problem I had with this idea when it first came up was that we then become the "shapeshifter" profession. Also, I think when it comes to worrying about exploits, this one has more options than not appearing on radar at all.

I think some cool ideas have been proposed here tho; changing the color of your blip on the radar would be cool. Being able to remove your name and tag from above your head (only people targeting you can see your name and tag) could have some tactical advantages as well.

And I'd be more worried if they succeeded

Seriously,I do like the idea... i think stealth definately needs to be added in some form or another... it just makes sense.

Calc, what kind of damage is your T21 doing that you would have to spam /headshot on a durni? If one /headshot doesn't do, you might want to check its condition or go get that thing sliced. j/k

I'm not quite sure why this wouldn't be possible. What's stopping the server from treating specific characters that are using a concealment skill from simply not delivering data packets that identify that character.

It's not the same issue as you have with eliminating the radar vs. packet sniffers, because the server has to send information about most player-characters so they can be identified visually, radar or no radar.

The worry is about cheates. They can screw with the files on their machine and figure out a way to turn you back to being red/blue again.

From my understanding, "screwing with the local files" is also how people speed hack, or dupe credits, etc.
