My thoughts on the Ranger Revamp...

I love it,
I hate it...
I love it,
I hate it...
I love it,
I hate it...
I love it,
I hate it...
I love it,
I hate it...
I love it,
I hate it...

That's how my weekend went . I guess this is a case where actually playing it will help make up my mind. On thing's for sure...this forum will never be want it was .

Only if we let it change. Don't worry Calc, this is good stuff. Now we realistically have more stuff to do. Personally I can't wait to get an HEP and go sneaking around inside the Corvette or the DWB.

i know exactly how you feel.

it could be the best thing that has ever happened to ranger, or it could be the antithesis of what we all wanted.

in anycase, my gut says its gonna be good.

I feel the exact same way calc... about both the revamp and this forum. I'm going to try out the new ranger and see how it is, but it's such a divergence from my current playstyle that I really can't judge what my temlate will be post-revamp.

Ranger was the first ever elite profession I mastered.

I really love what ranger currently is, but I didn't stick with it. I had an awful lot of fun being a Ranger.

However, that being said, I'm working on mastering ranger right now, because I really love what has been proposed here.

They are both great things, and each have their own incarnation after the revamp. A la Scout (animal specialsist), and Ranger (SpecOps Operator).

This is a good thing methinks.

As long as Scout picks up all of what Ranger is losing regarding creatures, I think it will be good.

It will make Scout that much more valuable a support profession that is Ranger as we know it. It gives Ranger a unique focus instead of being a super-Scout, and it takes a bold step towards making the para-military spec-ops role that a lot of people wanted to see.

Very good stuff as long as they don't botch the implementation...

(I'm a pessimistic optimist tempered by realism. )

I can understad the roller coaster for many. Half of us are getting what we wanted, a Spec-Ops style Ranger. Now we need to try to get SOE to add a new prof in the future to give the other half of the forum what they wanted, an Outdoorsman Elite Hunter (something or other)

Yes, thankfully we won't ever have to hear another "we're being ignored", "Devs hate us" or "Don't hold your breath for a ranger revamp" posts, and move back to discussions about playing the profession.

I know that's not what you meant, but it's something I was thinking.

Just curious how you think it will change, Calc? Unfortunately, although the number of anti Dev posts have fallen, the number of "all the kids and "l33t" pvpers are going to ruin our forums" posts have taken their place. Sad to see so many people being judgemental about other players taking an interest in the profession.. (definitely not majority.. just a few loud ones, as before).

Incidentally, I'm having the same feelings as you about the revamp. I still have my ranger on TC and Wanderhome, but I'm torn whether or not I'll be going back to MR again on my kauri toon. I'm heavily leaning towards it, but it's too soon to tell at this point.

As much as I'm looking forward to the changes I think I'll be taking a breakfrom reading the forumsuntil it hits TC. All the new posts are clogging my brain to either like the changes or not like the changes. Until then i'll be on TC finishing off my character there so I can test everything effectively. Talk to you guys in a while.

Personally i think the forums will cool down in a week or so once everyone who hasnt already reads the changes. It has to be expected that because of the revamp just being announced and the wide sweeping nature of our revamp that numbnuts will post without even taking a couple of seconds to see the exact same questions asked and answered in another thread.

The idiots will cool down soon enough.
