The only trees i am really interested in in Ranger are wayfaring (for camo) and tracking (for tracking and harvesting). Can I be effective at the /conceal and ?areatrack skills without being a master. I notice master gives +20 to camo but how significant is that? Can I just make that up with camo BE clothing?

Tracking IV is the best of Ranger. And then get Wayfaring 1 and stop. Thats if you find a ranger willing to make camo kits for you. And most are willing to sell them. At wayfaring 1 you can use all conceal kits. You just cant make them

wayfaring I? what about the +40 bonus to camo at wayfaring 3? Wont that help out a LOT? I was actually thinking of only rudimentary tracking. All I really need is direction- distance is irrelevant. I'll get there.

Yes it does help. You just dont have to have it. If you really want conceal to work at its best go Master. There is a good reason the riflemen go master ranger. Because they literally live and die by their conceals. Since you just titled it dabbling i was answering in how to do it in as few points as possible. And the 2 points for tracking IV are worth it for the fact you can track player characters. If this isnt important to you Then stop at 3
