I sort of figured this out for myself by accident the other day. It seems to go pretty fast this way.

It's faster with real people getting healed.
and I don't think pets add that much XP.
I'll defer to Fred, who should be along at some point, he knows the exact answer, and I'm pretty sure he's gonna tell you that just drawing a putting away pets is only gonna rot your brain...not get you throught camping that much faster.

Its been in the scout forums for awhile now. So I cant believe it wouldnt have been noticed by a dev. I know that brisc has replied to it there and Calc on the Rangers forums. And so far it doesnt appear to have been labeled an exploit. Sure in a way its gaming the game. Which it is. But it just doenst feel like an exploit

What is this "pet method"? Calling one out never got mine to go faster. Only the following seems to do anything at all:
- More people in the camp. They have to stay, leaving in under a minute only makes the population indicator on the panel go up but not the experience.
- Crafting camps and traps.
- Other folks healing you or other poople. Natural heling seems to do some increase as well.

I've got to agree with Fred on this. I tried it last night and didn't see any improvement. I had crafted a new set of traps for my trapping macro, Trained my two new /tames and stored them, healed up a bit, then just started calling and storing my pets. After about 10 minutes (the time I've seen as being the most its taken for the pet trick to work) I closed camp and got 500 XP. . . not much to write home about. Put up a camp, practiced on some traps, healed, 20 minutes flew by and I got over 1K XP when I shut down camp and moved out. Perhaps there some trick other than just call/store/call/store that I'm missing, either way it seems about as much fun as standing near a meatlump spawn while going out to catch a movie...

Well, with the second camp you can get as a scout I would call and store my pet about 10 times and let the camp build to 3 minutes. This gave me about 650 XP per time. With the first ranger camp, doing this and getting to the 3 minute mark is 800 xp. Is this the same as without calling the pets?

I'm working through the last wilderness tree right now with pets and macros. Pets do work but not as visitors. Get your pet real beat up - have it attack a set of gurrecks, womp rats, whatever. Try to have it well wounded - diseased is ideal. (sheesh - what a kind master I am). Then pop a camp and heal the pet - you can macro the healing. Gets over 1000 xp each time.
Popping pets in and out doesn't work. Also pitching and disbanding every 13 mins doesn't work, or works dramatically less each time.
If you can find someone with time on their hands who is easily entertained, you could ask them to visit. My experience is that only other rangers bother to visit and that because they know what you are enduring.

I thought we had decided that the number of unique visitors determined the xp rate? Therefore calling the same pet over and over won't do anyhting anyway, even though the number of visitors increases... There was also a theory about the number of unique visitors at any given time (something about number of visiturs each time a certain amount of time 'ticks') affecting the xp rate.

Here is why it works for ME. I set up the camp. Then I wait the few seconds for the chairs to spawn. Then I go to data pad and call my dewback. I then wait about 1-2 seconds and type S plus enter to give the command to store. After it is stored and you examine the camp status, it says visitors present, 2, not just total visitors, but visitors present. I keep doing this until it thinks there are at least 10 people in the camp. With the high quality camp kit at the 4 min mark you get between 1000-1100 xp.

Wow, an error that acutally works in my favor for once. Maybe this is payback for the two months I spent suffering as a master pistoleer. When I got TK, I almost cired at the time I had wasted on pistols.

Actually, I noticed the 'Visitors Present' thing today. I was trying to get the last few droid custimizations off of my combat droid, so I kept calling it and storing it. Probably did it about 10 times, and when I looked at the status window, with my droid stored, I had 11 'Visitors' present.
