I just wanted to pass along my thank you to the folks on this board for all of their insights into the Ranger profession. Just made Master Ranger tonight. I'm also happy to say that I did this solo, unbuffed, and unarmored. Sure it took awhile longer than most but I feel that it was "more true" to an outdoorsman-type ranger. The route I took led to some very interesting gameplay points:

1) Don't really need money. The hides/meat you sell will cover any weapons expenses you may have.

2) You'll be surprised how often you have to go to the "city"---pretty much when inventory was full or fatigue needed rectifying.

3) Patience, patience, patience. Think like a whispering murderer, not like a rampaging tank.

4) Burst run is your friend. Use it to disengage completely---do not come back to the fight tired.

5) Use maskscent and bleeds to pull higher lvl mobs from the herds.

6) Faction isn't a huge deal for the solo player IMO---most msns are city centric or at least originate and terminate there.

The upsides:

Can pretty much go anywhere you want solo.

Really get to admire the scenery the devs put into the game. Somehow, I don't think the grinders would appreciate some of the sights Rangers see.

The downsides:

Doubt I'll ever even start the Jedi stuff. This class doesn't really lend itself toward going down that path IMO.

Anyways, thanks to all of you for your intelligent posts. They really helped out.

congrats! One question though: when you say you can go anywhere you want solo, does that include going into high level caves and actually sneaking past aggressive mobs?
