If you are an OVERT player, you get a extra radial menu item on the control device for your Field Bases which allows you to requsition factional structures, and equipment (this includes all the bases, minefields, armor, weapons, and faction scanners).
basically means wherever a Ranger is, there is a possiblity of having a GCW base pop up right there.
I am not sure yet if other Overt players can access the control device on the camp or not and requsition items. I am suprised this isnt in the Ranger FAQs (or if it is I missed it) but its pretty darn cool.
With the faction base revamp coming soon, very soon, people will want to get a hold of those cheapo PvE bases, and you Ranger Smith, will be able to provide them, making it unecessary for people to run all over looking for recruiters (especially useful for Rebels). Just pitch a field base up outside your town, and let all your freinds and neighbors know they can come get fation stuff from you and your field base.
I am not quite sure how the change coming in the TEF system will affect this (Coverts, aka 'combatants' may now have access to this feature of our Field Bases as well, thus increasing Ranger usefulness in the context of the GCW.

wow. GREAT catch.
Since you're a combatant and can wear Factional Armor, you should be able to pick stuff up in the field. Because technically there is no more "covert". If you choose a side, you are ALWAYS attackable, even if it's just by NPC's.
Owen get on top of this lol.

LOL, it's in the 'upgraded' FAQ which will be posted this weekend.
Other overts can also access the terminal but coverts don't seem to be able to .
(Still to get together with a certain Imp ranger to see if we can BOTH access the term in a camp, etc)
So many questions. So little time. Ah! TC!

This isnt realy new but there has been a long standing issue with it.
Although a nice feature the cost of items requisitioned from HTFBs are significantly more expensive than at recruiters. This i would like to change.
However in recent posts i have highlighted a desire to allow a terminal in the HTFB to act like a recruiter. So you can 'take leave', enable pvp or even requiisition items at normal price (as it will simply be a recruiter).
I think this should be changed and we should be able to provide an in the field recruiter function with prices the same as recruiters.

no owen the difference is that covert is becoming combatant. With that change, we need to make sure that even the people who are currently "covert" are able to get stuff from the Ranger HTFB. Because I think only Overts can get items now. That should change because the people who are coverts will be able to be attacked by all NPCs. That means they'll need equipment too. Since PvE-only people will be able to get factioned pets, we should be able to get them at the HTFB, even when we're not "overt"

Ill ask about it but i think the change in recruiters will also change the HTFB set up too. As in as soon as overt is taken away and you can buy faction crap from a recruiter as pvp-disabled you will be able to do the same with HTFB too.
Best thing to do is test when it hits live. If we find it cant then it should be a fairly simple fix to get it sorted for rangers too.
But i expect it to change when they change the who system.

It makes sense for the items to cost more from a field base given a field base is way out on the end of the supply lines, thus 'resupplying' would be difficult and costly.
I dont think having recruiters would be too useful for a field base seeing as how it seems that you get faction recruiters AND mission terminals if you buy a base anyway, plus field bases are too transient to have NPCs lingering around (they only stay up for 45 minutes at max)
There still needs to be a reason to visit NPC recruiters (and that seems to be to requistion troops and furniture, train, and get promotions which are all in combat terms, rear echelon activities, not sutiable for a field base.
You can get the same effect soon though, just pitch a field base, then buy a PvE base and toss it up next door. It will be like having a miniature city. You get the healing bonus of the field base, the cantina/med center effect, the crafting stations, the mission terminals, the recruiter, insurance terminals, NPCs to guard the joint, plus that nice lil perk of being able to call out a pet or a mount instantly in the field base.

The point is, why buy from a HTFB when you can simply walk up to a recruiter and buy it for cheaper? Much cheaper infact.
To me there is no point and thats why the system barely ever gets used and if you do you feel like you've been fleeced harder than at a cinema pick'n'mix.

I can understand that but if you are out in BFE (Endor for example) there is a extreme shortage of faction recruiters, not to mention big squads of STs roaming around.
IF you are 'special forces', do you wanna risk heading back to a starport, and flying somewhere else to another starport, then locating a recruiter all the while risking getting aggroed by ST's or Imperial players? (not this is more an issue for Rebels than Imps of course), not to mention the PITA of having to go somewhere else to get your faction stuff then come back?
On Tatooine, everyone knows where the main faction recruiters hang out (like in the basement of the Cantina in Anchorhead). As a result those places are deathtraps for Overt Rebels because the Imps know where to sit and wait.
With the stuff accessible from a field base, you can really get the guerilla warfare feel going on because our faction stuff can come from a base that can move around, making it bloody hard for Imps to locate. This also allows bases to be deployed faster because the base owners wont have to take the time or risk of locating a recruiter.
I can see this isnt a big bennie for Imps but for Rebels its a big deal.

I don't think this will be an issue. The way I read it, PvE is not just a new name for covert, it's totally different to what we have now. I am sure they will change all the functions that are currently Overt only so they are able to be accessed by both PvP and PvE, the difference not being part hidden and totally open faction standings with the new systembut who can pwn you and who can't!
Ugh, I used l33t speak... tie me to a jedi and send me to the squill cave!
