Thread: Am I still welcome here?

Just wondering if this Rodian is still welcome around here. I have a bit of bad news. I dropped Ranger.

I am working on a new template, as I would like to try my hand at some PvP. My New template, when complete, will be BH 0-0-3-0 (for BH pistols skills) Master Pistoleer, Master Scout, Master Marksman, Novice Medic.

I am keeping Master Scout, for gathering organics for guildies, as well as a source of income.

Even if I do not have the Ranger skill boxes anymore, I am, and will forever be a Ranger at heart, but after many months of Rangering, I just want to see what else is out there in the galaxy to try my hand at. I also feel it's my duty as a loyal imperial citizen and soldier to help curb the growing Rebellion that has been running rampant on Lowca.

So with a heavy heart, I am here to let everyone know that at least for now, Oreet is no longer a Ranger, but this is not a permanent thing, as i could always pick it back up at a later date.

Oh, if it means anything, I won't be using any BH tracking toys, since I only picked up BH for the pistol skills, and don't even plan on using a BH terminal at all.

I am just looking for more pistol skills that I can use when going Overt and searching for Rebels. The BH pistols will also help me when i hunt hides and meats, which I still intend on doing, as many Lowca crafters rely greatly on me to supply them with organics.

As I said, I may not be a Ranger by skill boxes, but i will always be a Ranger at heart.

plus, at least as of right now, I do not harvest much more organics at master scout than i did at 4-1-4-1 Ranger, which was the closest to Master Ranger i ever got. I was killing gurks yesterday, mostly for pistol xp, but also to gather hides for a guildie Tailor. I was harvesting roughly 95-100 units of hide per gurk, and at the peak of my Ranger skills, i'd only get 15-20 units more per corpse. These numbers are from harvesting by hand, without veghash (i was all out)

on a related note, masking scent, going prone, then using Take Cover works GREAT when using a Scatter Pistol to kill gurks. I can drop a gurk or 2 before anything even sees me. I've never really done much ranged combat before, so i'm having a blast learning about Ranged combat.

FWIW, I just recently started to level Ranger again (I am 4-3-4-4...stupid camping ) after brief stintsas aBH/Carbineer and then a TKA Smuggler (by brief, I mean I wasn't a Ranger for less than a month, maybe). There used to be a 'Once a Ranger, Always a Ranger" attitude, but these new guys seem kinda tough.

Don't worry though, you will decide to become a Ranger again, after a very short time, I am sure .

Well, I know the feeling. I've recently started shifting my template somewhat away from Ranger (Currently 4-2-4-4 Ranger) to start picking up TKA to help accelerate my character a touch in the FS XP grind. My current target template is (Ranger 0040, TKA 4040, Master Sword, Brawler 4040, Master Scout). If things don't improve much for me, I may make a massive shift in Ranger and Scout to pick up Master Marksman and Commando 3000 just to get things moving along a bit more. But I console myself with the plan of Regrinding Ranger while midst the Padawan trials, to begin and move through the Jedi path as far as humanly possible while still holding a ligitimate "Master Ranger" title.

Must admit though, I am not looking forward to reclimbing the Frontiering line.

hehe everyone already highlighted how i feel. The "once a ranger, always a ranger" mentality sits well with me.

Your always welcome

I'm proud to be part of the Ranger community, by far the greatest community in SWG.

I just want to keep from getting bored with the game, especially in light all the new changes coming down the pipeline from SOE. I figure the best way to do that is to explore some facets of the game i haven't done before, such as Ranged Fighting and PVP'ing. So i figured i should just go all in, head first, and get all the pistol skills i can that would be helpful, hence the BH pistols and pistoleer.

I was just making sure that when i show up at Ranger Meets, i won't be made fun of for not being a Ranger on my main toon. if you're gonna make fun of me, make fun of me because i'm a Rodian, to which my response will always be "At least i'm not a bothan!"

Yeah...Though, I've only been on this board for a short period of time, I feel this is the place I can actually relate to others because I was once a Master Ranger. It's been hitting me slowly over time so I miss the profession more and more. Good thing I have an unlock to play around with.

Why did I ever master Artisan and Architect when I could have spent that time getting master Scout and master Ranger again? I'm ready to grind it again now that I have some awesome-looking ranger-like camo-threads! Go-Go Master Ranger!

LOL, Oreet, they've already said it "once a Ranger, always a Ranger".

My MR on Live will very probably be deskilling once I have my TC Ranger up a bit. I reckon that I'll always have one on a server SOMEWHERE!

Besides, Master Scout is 'nearly' Nobby Ranger, innit?

Remember the wise old Bothans' words: Ranger is a lifestyle, not a profession. Act like a Ranger, and you'll always be welcome. But if you start yelling PWN! and using leetspeak...well that's when I'll hang the bug lamps around the forum.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

NOT BH??

Geeze bud, did the frontal lobotomy to get your IQ low enough to fit into their forums hurt?

All kidding aside... you can come harass me in the Scout Forums. I am even nice to BHs in my guild. She is a hoot, got me killed yesterday by a BS assassin... then I made her walk back to the outpost with me killing as we went. She doesn't harvest, I do. Guess who made more money and xp?

You shouldn't even have to ask that question. Enjoy the other professions--there are lots of fun ones out there.
