Thread: camouflage: how does it work exactly?

i am 4344 on ranger tree.
I have been told from many rangers that they go hunt unarmoured and unbuffed. only with camouflage.
i tried it , but they mostly always detect me.
what is wrong with it?
maybe camouflage kit depends on kind of resources they are made of?
your opinion is kindly appreciated.

Camo isnt very effective because it breaks far too often. However as a rifleman and shooting from long distances, camo can give me tens of shots unagroed so effectivelly (if i use carefull tactics) i can hunt without getting hit once (which has happened alot in the past).
Im not sure how other proffession get on with camo or mask but i can work a treat if used in the right way as a rifleman.

I use maskscent as I am a pistoleer and am gonna be aggro'd anyhow.
The resources made don't affect the effectiveness, it's your skill that does. Wear Bio-modded clothes with +16 Camo/Maskscent, the cheap ring Wedge gives out for some + on camo, and any CAs you can get.
+125 is the max, before you figure in racial pluses, so don't go nutzo and spend the farm on clothes that quit working after 125.

I have a shirt and a pair of pants that puts me over the cap and it realy helps. If you're hunting unbuffed and unarmored you'll be at the cloner a fair bit (very much so when you first start doing it) so remember that when shopping. The higher the mod on the shirt the better as you can still ware it in a full suit of armor.

I find I have good and bad days with camo. Yesterday it was great and I used it in my attack on the Black Sun guy... today it seemed to get broken by every vicious Yavin gnat that flew past me! I went through a whole kit in 40 mins reapplying all the time. Other days I've been on Endor and it's stayed so long I start thinking the games got bugged.
Just another Ranger skill.. being aware of your current mask/camo status!

Ya have this theory that its not just CL that goes in the dice roll. Certain criters break my mask/camo all the time. Lone sycks are the bane of my existance. And any insect like criter seems to break me more often. Then again most of the insect like ones are tend to come in a large set all in one small area so that's probably the mathmatics of the whole thing catching up to me. It very easy to see patterns in random things that just aren't there. lol Play some proper blackjack if you don't belive me

Hrm. My camo works fairly well. Then again, I do wear modded clothes AND get the Bothan bonus to it. With Camo, traps (depending on the critter), food, and a fair amount of luck, you can hunt most things in the game (notice: Rifleman isn't necesary, but it can be helpful).
