Ok first of all I know half the people will one star this before even reading it since this issue has been brought up before. In MY OPINION which very well may not be shared by many others, I would really like to see ranger become the stealth profession in more than just PVE creatures. As a exceptional scout, I see us being the one who moves ahead of the group to check things before moving forward, we are the people who check out the enemy, determine their numbers, sneak into an enemy city and scope it out. We have no real combat abilties with the profession we are almost 100% combat avoidance if you think about it.

What if they allowed us to be cammo'd against players but we could only do so while PVP disabled. Cammo dice could roll against the players we are spying on just like the do against NPC''s and animimals. If our cammo breaks what happens? Then they see us and we become visible! No fighting, no getting the jump on anyone… they just know we are there. If we are not citezens and our cammo breaks then we could be attacked by enemy factioned NPC of course.

This would allow us to scout out an area, this would give us our stealth with no way to exploit it.

This could also be useful I think against Jedi or anyplayer service, (please dont one star me just because you are a Jedi and dont like this) We track the player down... watch them without knowing that they are there... etc.

Here is a scenario... There are 6 rebels at a PVP base. Im there scoping out the area while cammo'd. I see 3 rebels heading to a shuttle leaving 3 defending the base. I then call in my squad who goes in and attacks.

Ok, not a bad idea, but we already have this ability.

Areatrack.

Go to within 400 meters of the enemy base (to see the entire base and it's surrounding area). Areatrack for players. You will "see" all those not inside. You will also "see" anyone in the local area, aka possible reinforcements.

Camo won't work inside buildings -- Hey Charlie, was that a bush just crawled past me? Dunno Bob, we best shoot it-- so if the other side has half a brain, they "hide" the majority of their force in the base. And they "talk" only in group or guild chat.

A guild I was in used to do this all the time. I would go out 515 meters from the base on the best avenues of approach and patrol. 8 out of 10 times I would spot the enemy coming in. More than once they got presents, in the form of aggro animals being run thru their base camp, courtesy me; or an unexpected ambush, again courtesy me.

Recon is not only eyes on target, use the "technology" you have too.

Good point on the area track and I did not think of using that technique.

Think of the other uses, though, JB. Picture it: you're standing in a starport, waiting for friends or cleaning out your inventory or whatever, when suddenly you're interrupted by... nothing at all! No 'd00d, find me a kryat lol' or 'hey can u trak teh pirates' or 'I am a mighty jedi and you must serve me byfinding a graul marauder' tells. Why not?

Because you're invisible, damn it.

I was kind of thinking of a similiar idea for rangers in a pvp sitiuation. Maybe while we are in cammo we disappear from the map making it not possible for any players to see us on the map. I dont know but I find pull up the map helps out to seeing where the people are. I think this would give us a role in pvp also.

Tej -

I do that now. I put up my Novice Marksman sign. No one talks to me.

Altho with my MR sign up, two Twi'Leks asked for 4 HTFBs named "sauna". I didn't ask why, just was happy to get rid of a short stack of hide I was carrying.

And I used to think Rangers and Rodians were odd.

Were they female Twi'leks?
