Thread: Supporting professions

So, I see a lot of postings about this template being the best and that one being the best, so it leads me to ask....

What supporting professions to Ranger make sense?

I'm a Master Ranger / Rifleman and I have a little trouble only because of how slow rifles seem to be in shooting things if you're not sniping, but it has its advantages in the cover and conceal shot.

But what do you guys think?

Iconic professions. Ok. Chewbacca was a Scout. How come that didn't stay?

When you think about it, aren't almost all of the original professions iconic? You can find something on each of them in the Expanded Universe.

I miss being a Ranger. It was more than a profession, it was a virtual way of life. It wasn't for everyone. But those who took it up became family.

When you see someone saying a template is 'the best' it's strictly their opinion. I have been both a Rifleman (large damage, low defense) and a TKM (large defense and low damage) and I much prefer TKM. It's all about personal preference.

bounty hunter seems to be a good balance of offense vs. defense, but its a pain in the arse to master.

but like calc said... its ALL about personal preference.

find out HOW you like to play and complement that. I prefer to be ranged and versatile, hence BH. Others like to snipe, others like to take a big pike and whap critters.

there's no 1 perfect combat prof, they all work well, but its about how you want to play the game.

Alot of people think you have to have a double mastery. Well, in ranger you do (scout, ranger) but I mean for combat. you dont have to master a full combat profession

Personally, I like ranged fighting. My template is this:

Master Scout, Master Ranger, 4004 Rifleman, 0403 Bounty Hunter.

This gives me all the scout ranger abilities, the speed, accuracy, and in my opinion the best shots from Rifleman. (I like to kite, so I must keep moving. This keeps me away from conceal shot and sniper shot)

in the bounty hunter line I get Improved Critical shot, Improved Spray shot (area attack, for large harvesting missions/group hunting with jedi) and I also get Eye shot (blind), Torso shot (improved head shot is alot better).

Also, Improved Critical Shot and Improved Head Shot are on different cooldown timers, so I can shoot one, shoot the other, shoot one, shoot the other, and both do very high damage. This is the point of my template, to help bypass the cooldown timers and be able to dish out alot of damage FAST, not just alot of damage over time. BH is good as a master too though. So is rifleman.

For me, this is an amazing combination. However, if your into hunting other players, or face to face fighting, this is not the template for you.

Like the other poster said, its all about YOUR OPINION. What do YOU want to do?

All caombat professions are about the same when it comes to Ranger. Its allabout personal preference.
