I was just thinking about the tv series Rawhide from the 50's/60's and how it could fit the Rangers profile.

Just a few points I would like to throw about;

1. Can use/make Throwing rope / Lasso to catch fully grown wild animals (pikets/bols/cupa etc, but not bigger than these)

2. New Skill ' Breaking in ' This allows the domestication of an animal caught with the lasso.

3. New Skill 'Cow Hand' This could be a novice skill and get more powerful as you approach Master Ranger.

Gives the ability to drive animals from point to point, similar to cattle drives.

Could be quest driven ' Have to drive cattle from point a to point b and defend the herd from predators etc'

4. Rangers have the ability to set up ranches and keep large herds of animals caught by no.1 for purposes unknown atm.

Feel free to give your thoughts...

Im not a current Ranger, but i used to be one and i feel for you guys...

At lot of this sort of idea has already been developed in the CH Profession under the "Corral Plan" currently in version 4 I believe. I think you would find that people think this belongs to Creature Handler more than to Rangers generally.

Creature Handlers, or at least those who are not primarily PvP oriented, seem quite keep on the concept of being able to domesticate and manage creatures. The corral is basically a suggestion for a new sort of player structure that would allow Creature Handlers to manage, store and even sell creatures. It would be a sort of creature vendor in some function too. Its been a while since I read the thread but here is a link:

Corral Plan v4

Jhonto - Elder: Architect, Artisan, Chef, Droid Engineer, Merchant, Tailor, Entertainer, Image Designer, Politician, Bounty Hunter, Marksman, TKM, Creature Handler, Ranger, Scout, Doctor, Dancer and Musician
High Plains, Tatooine (3356, 7212), Tarquinas

Jindi Jaw'aqti - Half Bothan/Half Jawa Spy. Regimental Sargeant Major, 15th Stormtrooper Regiment, Ft Palpatine, Lok.

If you all turn the ranger into a cowboy I am leaving the game... er wait... I mean if you do that I am STAYING (there that should be a more effective threat)
