What you've got to ask is "How long is a piece of string, innit?"

Or more helpfully, well, did you feel it was worth your time?

Back in the day, when I did do a little tracking, I thought along these lines....

How long are you hiring me for?

Make sure you've got the terms clear in your head and the client understands them too. Is it per animal? per hour? whether you find something or not?

How much, if I'm honest, could I make doing other stuff in that same time? (Maybe there's an uber shift of some resource in, I could make a a pretty penny gathering that, so I want to earn at least as much, if not more, from tracking. OTOH, maybe its a bit flat just now, am just out plinking nuna for fun... so whatever he's offering looks good to me for now.(

Can I be bothered?

I'm sorry, but if am busy with other stuff, you know, exciting things like sorting hides out alphabetically in rucksacks or admiring my new wookieeworld loot, you're not going to get me to track for love nor money...

I know things have changed a bit postCU, but if you feel your time is worth 50k for half an hours tracking, cool. If it had gone on to 2hrs, would it still have been 50k? Or worse, you only found 19.... would he have paid?

Yup, it's all about what is it worth TO YOU.

I know a good few months ago I was getting tells by the minute from Jedi asking me to find a peko or to find a sintrail blah blah blah. I started by saying, no, I'm busy, which was fine for me. Then, on a lark, I said, 500k up front and 500k upon the find. Next reply: "sure". It took me 20minutes and I made 1mil. not bad.

I've charged by the hour (50k-500k), I've charged just for finding the creature (but I don't recommend that), and I often track for free depending on who it is and what I'm doing. This is just some ideas to give you a flavour of what options are open. But at the end of the day, it all comes down to what it's worth to you. Ken gave you some very good advice up top, so I won't bother going over it again.

Enjoy!

Yeah, I let them offer and if the offer is under 500k I don't leave what I'm doing. Most people think that we owe them to track and I should just drop whatever I'm doing and do it right away, cause my time is free or something. Eventually they either offer a lot more cash or they stop bothering me. If track would be working better or it would be fun to do I'd do it more often, but coming from other games where track actually worked pretty good I really dislike it in the form it is currently in.

I charge 250k per hour for any time of tracking, payed up front. If I don't find what they want, its tough As Ken said it really all depends on:

Can I be bothered?

Many a time I turn people down 'cos I'm busy doing something else, even if it's not earning me any credits.
