A long time ago, in a galaxy so not far away it is right here, I once said that I would never drop master ranger, that I was too stubborn to let go. I had been a Master Ranger/Pistoleer for too long to ever be anything else. I havn't dropped a skill box since October of 2003.
I've kept my word, my promise, and never given up Ranger....nor will I ever because with a sad heart tonight, exactly 2 years to the date from when I started playing SWG in Beta 3, I hit the cancel button on my account. I still have 2 months left to go on my subscription, but tonight it really ended for me, and it's sad to see it all go.
No, it wasn't just the CU, its a combination of things in RL too including an impending financial crissis that is making me cancel. I can't even say that I don't like the CU, because I really don't think it is that bad. But I can say it doesn't feel like that game I played 2 years ago, where I made friends of a life time exploring the deserts of Tatooine, the lush fields of Naboo, and the ever summer world of Corellia. It isn't the same game anymore and I don't have the heart to really try and learn it all over again.
So, this is goodbye my fellow rangers. It has been a wonderful 2 years and I can say assuredly that I walk away proud to have been a member of this group with no regrets no matter all the hardships we've endured. For those from my era who shall still play on, I salute you; keep alive the tales of the olden days. To our younger rangers, or anyone who has joined along the way, keep your chin up, stay proud, and remember that Ranger is not, nor has it ever been, a profession. It is a lifestyle and one you'll carry with you until, some far flung day, when you to walk away to the great Field Base in the sky.
Good luck to you all, it was a great run. I'll see you out there.

Sol, am sorry to see you go.
Know that there's always a space for you by the fire if you're passing thru sometime and I hope things, irl, work out for you.
Take care,
Ken
