Ranger Archive

Ok, Ranger is getting a revamp, we all know this, and we all want it. So far, so good. However, we all also know the devs cant to anything without doing it bass ackwards too. So, here are my thoughts on the ranger revamp.

There are currently 4 lines in ranger. 2 dedicated to critters, 1 to camps, and 1 to traps. We have no weapons certs, and we have battle armor certs now. I believe in the future, we will be like Squad leader kind of. 1 weapons tree (Possibly combat XP since there is no 1 weapon assosiated with ranger) with a weapon cert at master ranger, maybe certs in the lower skills, and maybe special moves in the lower skills, with general ranged mods (Speed and accuracy) at each skill level. After all, we all just got done yelling at the devs that ranger was a combat profession, well, now I think it will come back and bite us in the butts.

Camps, according to posts by Owen-Lars, might actually become useful at some future date with the addition of damageing weather. If this happens, expect camp XP requirements to get higher since the skill will be useful. Tracking/hunting will stay consolidated in one line, possibly with concealment folded into it, and trapping will stay one line. Master will, as I said, probably offera weapon cert, camp modules, conceal kits,and various bonuses, making it worth having.

Strictly guess work. Not a problem, but with the devs,and we will have to wait and see, who knows what they might do. They might bring out two or three types of Rangers, with various specialties and various capabilities. They might stick with one and do a lot of revamping or not. Camps are unders general scouting XP now, so they will not be upping the need unless they do this for 3/4 s of our skills at the same time. But again, who knows what they might really do. The weather posting has all kinds of possibilites to it, but until it goes live, don't bet on anything.
