Believe you need a shelfish harvesting tool and you stand in water to make it work. Not positive myself cause I'm having a hard time getting one

Couple of threads down on this page. Similar question was just asked..

Musk for our camo kits is usually some form of meat from the world that the camo kit is for. For instance the musk component of the Tatooine camo kit is Tatooian Reptile Meat.

Each world has its own special recipe.

There's no such thing as "musk" in the game. If it says that in the ingredients of your crafting tool for camo kits, it's just "flavor text"...

..like when crafting food items, it says stuff like seasoning, tough meat, or purified blood among other things.. It really just means meat, and if it's a specific type, it mentions it below that description.

The same goes for all crafting in the game... the descriptions sometimes use descriptive or flavor text, but the actual ingredient is listed below that.

It's just a way for players to make sense of the fact that they need to smear carnivore meat, leather hide and animal bones on themselves for Dath camo kits. "call the meat, "musk".." etc..

In that case, musk comes from glands in critters butts.

(The components for cammo kits are specific meat, bone and hide from the planet that the kit is for. I think 'musk' is the name given to one of the slots when it appears in the crafting tool window.)

Man I hope they don't add /muskcollection to Ranger. I think I draw a line with that. Milking I can do, but not sticking my finger.....well you get my drift.

On the other hand, if you really did mean musk, try looking under the tails of critters, it's extracted from scent glands there....
