Thread: New (sort of) ranger
Long ago when the game first launched, I had a vison for my character to be a Ranger/Rifleman. I remember walking from Bela Vistal to Doaba Guerfel on foot (long before mounts, vehicles and all that jazz). Just me and my newly acquired laser rifle looking for wild spawns of crazed durnis to give me a massive 321 xp per kill. Well, things kept changing, mounts, buffs, uber games, etc. I lost track of my ranger plan (having acquired 4242 ranger), and dropped it all to do Smuggler/TKM. I never acquired master rifleman either, sadly. A couple of times I even dropped scout totally and felt naked without it.
About 2 months ago, I finally dropped smuggler and started up my path as a rifleman, mastering the profession. I'll never sit my T21 aside now, it's given me too many good times. Now that the CU is here my rifleman profession is in a sad state, but I'll never put that rifle down. The respec came and let me play with interesting professions, but none of them really felt right. My in-game wife tried a lot of the new "uber" professions, and finally followed her dream of becoming a MCH. It's not uber, but she's having fun. I followed her lead and respeced back to ranger. It's the most fun I've had in a long time! Tracking babies for my in-game wife to tame, massive harvests, concealing myself and walking without fear from the red dots, and generally exploring interesting places that most people won't take the time to see. Plus it's great fun putting up a HTFB right outside Mos Eisley and watching the newbie's amazement.
I suppose I'm one of the few to respec into a "gimped" profession. I do just fine in combat, it requires some thought, patience, and planning, not an "I win" button. Ya'll are right about ranger being a lifestyle, and this is the friendliest forum around.
There's a new master ranger on Kettemoor, and one who will wear his Master Ranger tag proudly from now on. I hope ya'll can accept a respec ranger who's only recently learned the error of his ways in dropping it so long ago.

Ranger is a lifestyle not a respec, so don't worry about being accepted in a place where you've actually been all along.

I too was ranger before but never got the rank of master. Went through a BH phase, did the smuggler/tka thing. before I left teh game I was tka swordsmen. Respeced all sorts of ways and decided on the Master Ranger Master Carbineer as it most fits my personality. I love outdoors irl. I love taking the time to walk around the beatiful landscapes and take joy in hunting a single rancor and killing it. I dont do the missions for the money I do it becuz its fun to "hunt" I will wander around outside my city cdeli city on naboo and hunt creatures. I dont care the level or the xp I'm not grinding or anything its pure fun.
You made the right choice as I finally did also.
