Ranger isn't a profession you just respec to. To really learn ranger and to develop the true appreciation for it's abilities is to go from novice scout to master Ranger. I've done it three times and each time I learn something new. I ended up respecing away from Ranger in the respec period so that I could go back and work up ranger again to learn it better in the CU. Yes, I know, I'm a glutton for punishment.

Seriously though, as most people on this board will tell you, it's a lifestyle; a calling, not a mere profession. But yeah, don't expect to be able to pvp with full template combat professioned peeps. Rangers are the masters of Player vs. Creature. But that's my $0.02 .

...and on the trapping thing I have personally trapped Giant Dune Kimogila, Peko Peko Albatross, Gorax, Ancient Krayt Dragon, Katarn and Kkorrwrott with ease, so I dunno why you were told it was useless.

It depends on what you mean by any good?

Like the poster above me said it's great for player vs. Creature combat. Stuff like Camo, Area Track, Camps, Harvest etc... won't help you in actual combat at all, especially PvP. However they help immensly if you are going out hunting. For example i went to the village yesterday and only got attacked on my swope twice since i could camo. Area Track is really useful if you're looking for high end Content like (krayts and jedi trial stuff).

Like the poster below said... Ranger is a lifestyle too. It's a pretty close-knit laid back community that, even though we have issues with stuff, tends to express them in a non-flaming, intelligent, well-presented way (which is probably why we are continously ignored by the devs )

Honestly i love playing as a Ranger, and i can't imagine my character being any other profession. I just don't see how it could possibly be nearly as much fun. Hope this helps
