Thread: Time to figure out exactly how pop-tarts break

If I go out solo, my pop-tarts work just fine and never break.

If I go out and use my pet bantha, the pet seems to usually die and the spawn is set free.

If I go out in a group with melee types, sometimes it breaks - sometimes it doesn't.

My normal group has been well warned to not use any snare, root, or anything similar to it and we rarely have it break anymore.

Occasionally a party member uses an attack that causes the blood gushing animation or the heartbeat animation on the spawn, yet it doesn't seem to break it.

And yet i've seen the tough little medical droid do his little finger jabs on a krayt for 10 minutes without it breaking while we sat back and and bet on his lifespan.

One successful trap roots the critter for a period of time (10-15 seconds) and then it's back to normal.

Two successful traps always root the critter.

If you are hit and then do a successful trap, it always roots the critter.

If a spawn comes out of the lair doing the funkywalk, one trap roots the critter.

A failed trap does not turn the critter aggressive.

Once you have a successful trap of any type, you can fire away without turning any other spawn near it aggro.

Please post anything that is known andtested break to a trap - maybe we can figure this thing out.

Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day.
Set a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

I use a pet when hunting and the only time my pet dies is if I send it in first or another MOB aggros in the middle of the attack.

I have sent in a CL1 freshly bio-engineered Razor cat to chew on a Krayt and it lived as long as I had the aggro first and the Krayt snared.

When my cat has died it was because of a second aggro or me not getting the aggro first before sending the cat in.

Matte of fact I have a print screen of my Cat on the first kill. The cat is smaller than my boots.

Either way very important to group with the Pet, gain hate\Aggro, snare, then send pet in.

Mine usually break right down the middle, and then I have to lick the jam off my fingers.

I haven't used them with a group, and I don't have any pets, but I've had them break when i've gotten too close -- usually because I'm running from one of their friends. Not sure of the exact distance, but less than 25m.

I've used it pretty infrequently, but was under the impression that it always broke with a melee attack. Dunno if it is the same vs pets.

When hunting solo I routinely use my razor cat as an additional source of damage.

What I do is snare the Krayt.

Shoot the krayt so I have the aggro.

Send in the cat while I continue to shoot the Krayt.

My first razor Cat Sparky hit for 17-33 damage. My New razor cat Sparky Jr. Hits for 33 and its only a CL5 right now.

So I group with my cat live it back out of range and aggro. Give it the stay command.

Once I have aggro and snared the Krayt I give the cat the attack command.

Rinse and repeat for each Krayt. I have found this doesn't work so well for sat Gurks since gurks like to group aggro and from time to time the Cat get attacked instead of me from another gurk. besides you don't really need the cat for gurks.

What I did was tell a MBE to make me a CL10 razor cat with the best attack and damage output she could. I didn't care about HAM or defense just attack and damage output.

If you switch weapons it'll break, it's happened every single time I've switched so I know it to be that and not just coincidence.

i use a probot named agrobot to pull the kryats

i tell the bot to attack then follow me multiple kryats agro the bot and incap it. i choose my kryat and feedit some poptarts while the others leave it to its demise. and i proceed to slaughter the kryat. though sometimes agrobots survives and helps me kill the kryat if its by itself.

much safer way: draw the krayt with a trap (any kind). It won't aggro the surrounding krayts, and your probot can start shooting AFTER you root it, meaning the creature dies more quickly.

By the way, the other focus thread on P-Darts contains my thesis on the underlying cause of many of the breaks in the perma-root effect.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.
