Nah we have lots of gravy over here but we are talking bisto gravy, perhaps with some seasoning and stock. It goes great to anyone who has tried it.
Fries over here are thin potato rectangles fried or deep fried. Chips are thick and chuncky lumps of potato fried or deepfried. There is a massive difference both in appearance and taste. McDonalds does fries, fish and chip shops do chips.
chips are the equivalent of steak fries in the U.S. Thicker and jucier, they go best with hearty meals and taste a lot different than the standard thin ones. Best trick with pizzaI ever tried was Pizza with a little salt dunked in Ketchup. Tastes like heaven on earth. Though I only recommend this on a cheese pizza. Also, the best combination of toppings is chicken and bacon.
Incedentaly, there is an even worse sandwich in the U.S. I forget the name but this thing is fried chicken, fries and mozzerella sticks on a bun. Sounds both nauseating and (btw I'm really hungry as I say this) deliciously decadant.
You guys need to try Brazilian food.
Some of that stuff will clog your arteries as bad as any other food out there...
MMMM... Feijoada, Pao de queijo, coxinha, wash it all down with a caipirinha.
And you haven't lived until you've been to a Brazilian Churrascuria.

sushi's pretty easy providing that you have a rice cooker. (I have 2... don't ask) the filling's the hard part, and I usually just put in unagi

Saying that, an american friend of mine over here on a hospitality conference with me showed me the joys of pizza and gravy. Ohhh northern boys looooove gravy. Thats one for all you brit soccerAM fans out there.
OK, being from the southern US (Texas to be exact). Gravy is not only a requirement, in some cities it's against the law to not have gravy with at least half of your meal.

for chinese food, "spring rolls" (direct translation) == "egg rolls", unlike for southeastern Asian food where spring rolls are made with rice paper.

STOPPIT!!! I can't stand it... I'm having wok withdrawal symptoms here.
Meanwhile I have to 'make do' with an excellent place I found in Carlisle that does a huge all you can eat buffet for 7.50.
Used to get my spicy chicken noodle soup (fresh made wif real chicken, noodles and spice and served hot hot hot) in a really sahdy looking lace in Glasgow, but it was BRILLIANT.
hmmm... could get some chicken breasts from the supermarket this after. Bit of coconut milk, lime, ginger.... lemon grass...

I like lighter noodle soups, the stuff I grew up with. I <3 noodles
a lot of good food places are hole-in-the-wall types, like this pho place nearby that has maybe 8 tables and also makes good fried fish and curry

if so, you're like 30-45 minutes from me.
