Thread: Returning Ranger, have some questions on Harvesting Bonuses

Well, after a long todo I'm back and confused as all H-E-DoubleHockeySticks. For the most part, I've got a handle on the new combat system, and since there are not many changes to Ranger beyond that, I'm still somewhat familiar with the profession. The one thing that is driving me nuts, is the group harvesting bonuses. Basically, before I left I never grouped because I was penalized for it, now I'm not sure what to do. When ever I land on Dant, Dath, or any particual planet with a good harvest I'm swarmed with /tells asking me to join their group. So far I haven't because, well, I'm a solo type for the most part. But I am 'interested' in harvesting bonuses but can't find a good answer because the search button does not work. From what I understand, a MR gives the group 40% to everyone but themselves, a ranger gives %30 and a scout gives %20. Is that correct?

Also, is there a range limit on these bonuses. I can't seem to find a good anser, some say it is 64m, others say no limit. I'm just curious if hunting today is like the buff-bot days where I would land on Dantooine and see holo grinders going nuts of Piket spawns in full groups that never interacted in any way, other then /invite and /join.

Finally, is there a cap to the total bonus, or would a group of 10 MRs all recieve 40*9=360% in Harvesting Bonus?

Sorry for the dumb questions, but I'm really lost here.

Works like this. Group penalty is completely gone. If you're in a group, you get a 20% bonus. If a member (other than yourself) is a ranger, 30% bonus. Master Ranger, 40%. Not cumulative-- it ain't gonna get higher than 40% no matter how many masters are nearby. 64m range sounds about right. Solo grouping is pretty much dead-- everyone gets full xp, full harvest + bonus, and full pay for missions. For all the xp grinders, grouping is the way to go, since kills are made faster, which = faster xp.

Word of advice... hunt with other Rangers. Most people are morons who will only get you killed because they don't know how to hunt, and don't wanna learn. Plus, the 40% harvest bonus is better than a sharp stick in the eye.

/agree

A good way to find them is to join your local RIN or ask here on the boards then put them in your friends list. As for me i only hunt with noobs, to teach them how to hunt, Rangers, or guildies. Everyone else i huhnt with ends up being idiots and i end up /burstrunning up the nearest hill to avoid getting killed

I see that group hunting strategies are still the domain of Rangers then. I fondly remember taking people out for Kryat/GDK hunts and then cloning 5min later. Thanks for the info guys!

Ouch! Hope this comment is not from experience.
