I have one of these trapping droids and I used it to take down the muntant acklay solo. I filled it up with p-darts and set up a macro to tell the droid to throw a trap every 4 seconds and The acklay stayed snared and I was able to easily kite it. I find that "Herbie" (that's the name of my droid) comes in very handy when hunting the big game.

I think someone should have had the decency to tell me the luncheon was free. To make someone run out with eopie pie in his hand, pretending he's throwing up, is not what I call hospitality.

My trap droid has some combat mods in it so not only does it trap, but it also does some damage. It's a very useful tool. (the macro idea is a great one too, i'll have to do that.)

Ya know, its funny how often this tactic is used now..and I got laughed at here for talking about this tactic pre-CU. (my thread on it is buried in here somewhere)

Funny how times change :-)

How do you write out the macro for your droid to throw a trap every 4 seconds?

My trap droid command for firing traps is "fire" so i would do mine something like this

/yell fire
/pause 4
/ui action toolbar01 (i can't remember if this is the command for hitting a thing in the toolbar or not, but you can google search SWG macros and find a lot too)

Because I go out and buy a trap droid, I want someones confirmation if this would work:

Buying a trap droid, eg. 115 trapping, 48 trap threshold

Could you use something like that to help hunt big mobs? Like, when you miss a trap and need to get them slowed down quick, or you could throw double traps (one from you, one from droid) so you have twice the chance of success?

Or is the droid too crappy/buggy for that to be viable?

Just wondering if I could use that as another method since they fixed phecnacine darts.

I too use a trap droid. Though it has no combat ability, Trapper chucks a p-dart every 10 seconds. If I find that a trap failed, then I can hand-toss one myself and usually do well. On Bloodfin, I am also a CH, so my pattern of attack is to have at least 2 creatures out, my trap droid, and hand toss a glow wire into a mob. The glow wire attracts and pulls only one creature. When I have that chreatires attention, I set off the trap macro for the droid, and send in my creatures. This usually starts beating up the target in enough time that once I open up with my Nym Slug Thrower, I kill the creature even before it reaches me. Ranger/CH is a deadly combo with PvCreature combat. Now if only they fix ranger to be a real combat prof, I can actually start woking PvP as special forces.

Make no mistake, the trap droid is an invaluable tool. Even with the P-darts "fixed" since pub 20, I can still kite big game with ease. I recommend spending the 50k creds on the droid you described int he original post.

I was under the impression that /tellpet was broken. I'm working on CH now and tried /tellpet last night and it didn't work.

I can't believe someone else named their droid Herbie.... lol, that being said my command is /tellpet Herbie t

I actually have him fire traps off every sec when I use him, sometimes I get told I can't fire another trap for 3 or 4 secs but he shoots them as fast as he can, plus you can reload him while in combat. I have 4 or 5 macros set up just for using him, all in the /tellpet format. But I've been away for the last 2 weeks so I have no idea if this last patch screwed up the /tellpet command. Either way trap droids rock!

Do you mean, how do you stop the Macro? Just type /dump and any macro your running will stop. I actually have that command in it's own macro so I just have to click the tool bar to get my other macros to stop.

I tried this and it works. however the last line of the macro is "/macro trap" which starts the whole process over again. When I did this I actually had to delete the macro to get me to stop spaming "T" "ST". What do you do?
