As stated I am a Master BE. For those who are unfamiliar with the BE profession we need to sample DNA from live creatures. Obviously the stronger, more powerful the creature, the better the DNA sample we get.

As you can imaging sampling from Rancors and Kraytsturns into adeadly affair more often than not.

See as such I've decided to advance all the way up the Wayfaring skill tree in Ranger so I can better hide myself from aggresive mobs.

I was basically wondering if those who already have Wayfaring 4 (or Master) think it is worth pursuing. I've heard that the resource requirements for camouflage kits are ridiculously specific but that doesn't bother me. If one kit allows me to get 10 DNA samples from a big nasty beast then it is worth the effort.

I 'd like to know how well /conceal works and also how (and how practical) the /scanarea command is.

Thanks for your input.

Unfortuanately, conceal is kind of broken at the moment and maskscent appears to get worse as we climb the Wayfaring line.

It is suspected that some lines of code left in from removing masckscent to the sole domain of Scout are causing the bonuses to read as a penalty.

Conceal kits are prohibitively resource specific and expensive to make for such a very unreliable disposable item.

At the moment, the Explorer Scout line may be most useful to you in your research. Until our Wayfaring line gets debugged, I would suggest that you stick with Exploration.

"Daddy, what's that bad man doing to my (Star Wars)?"

"Son, that bad man is (SOE), and he's **edit**ing your (Star Wars)."

Hi Waxalot,

I am Master Ranger and Novice Bio Engineer.

I taken BE as it was possible before to harvest after DNA sampling (which is corrected now, but should be reimplemented - as I think DNA sampling dont destroy complete body...).

Whatever, as a Master Ranger I AM able to sneak to a Rancor. Sometimes maskcent breaks (not even tries conceal with all those threads out there), but I always was able to outrun it then and sneak back in again.

I actually taken DNA from a Rancor and killed it.

Just don't do it any more as there is no benefit any more (I getting as Novice BE only low average samples).

regards

as a master ranger i find conceal and maskscent to the same success/failure rate. the only difference i'm seeing is that conceal also hides from NPCs, which you don't need to worry about.

what i suggest you do, and i do this when taming aggro creatures like graul maulers or rancors, is to go proned before they're within 64m and crawl your way to what you want to sample. i have not been detected yet when crawling into lairs of aggros when using maskscent, and since maskscent effectivenss caps out at master scout, stick with that.
