SWG is already adding a lot to the Ranger. If everything they do takes action they will be no doubt one of the best classes. If you do add a Ranger Bow, it's too much for one class to have. So I don't think they will end up adding it to the Ranger directly. Maybe making the bow it's own class would be a good idea. But you can only qualify for the class if you have Novice Ranger. This way the weapon won't lack depth but will have a lot to it. Think its a good idea?

I would make it a Novice Ranger cert, but make the mods go up one of the trees. Maybe go up the Frontier line using the Bow as a "survival"-type weapon.

The Weapon Certification suggestion has been added to the idea.

Is the bow is for sure going to be in the Ranger class?

Nothing has been officially announced, nor do I even know if the developer knows the idea exists at all.

Don't think in terms of elegant Elven longbows.

Think about modern high-tech compound bows, made out of alloyed plastics and high tensile strings with cams and pulleys to increase the draw strength.

I don't believe I am actually backing this idea now...

I think this would make a great addition if it were just implemented to be a fancy delivery system for new Ranger "traps" that can effect humanoids as well as creatures. Something with the "umph" of a CDEF, but the status effects of Scout and Ranger traps... and more.

Devs will never give the bowcaster to anyone but Wookies. I don't have too much of a problem with that. However, because the bowcaster is unique to Wookies I suspect they won't include any other type of weapon in the game that resembles a bow and would detract from the "uniqueness" of the weapon. Now, the fact that the bowcaster as it exists in SWG is a truly CRAP weapon and no self respecting Wookie would use it in combat...well, that's just details.

I'm for the Ranger Bow, btw. I'm just not holding my breath that we'll see it in action.

I like the idea of a cross-bow a bit better. Not sure if that really matters, but, a cross-bow/dart-gun type weapon seems more in line than a giant elven bow in Star Wars..
