Thread: Hmm Terrain Negotiation Means nothing??
A snip-it from my PA boards that our Combat Medic posted about... (This person is pretty up on her profession, so I do believe it)
Word from the new CM correspondent is that, on test now, combat medics get +10 terrain negotiation on each box of the combat medic support line and keep the +10 at the master box, for +50 total.

Not trying to "knock" anyone, but then I must ask... why even bother having it in Scout or Ranger?? And why does SL have "group" terrain Nav (IMO SL's don't know squat about the wilderness as much as a Ranger)??
Ahh questions, maybe just a bad day, ignore me ![]()
A Squad Leader needs Exploration 4, so they already have Terrain Negotiation of 40. That gives them 80% normal mountain climbing skill. With them being a class that is there to organize their group, not to mention try to get the entire group out alive, they should have a Group Terrain Negatiation, it fits their character.
As far as, Combat Medics, I haven't heard anything, so we will see what happens,NRaas, any info?
I think it's a fine idea for the Combat Medics to get some kind of movement abilities...... I mean, these guys are what we call in the biz sh__ing and gitting and it seems they would pick up a few tricks on how to navigate,
I'm for it! When some bright person continually hammers away at a lair pumping mobs out and you're up the side of a canyon getting whacked on, I'd like my cm to be able to get up that canyon wall.
Now, should it be as much as scout? probably not.....
Bout the only thing terrain negotiation is good for, at the Ranger level, is being able to crawl really really fast. Wow, thats nifty, useless but nifty. I would rather be able to run slightly faster or farther than someone else, maybe hairdressers and chefs even...BUT NO, alas, we run the same, cept uphill, we are faster there, but that's our scout training.
Terrain negotiation is the largest crock of crap, right up there with maskscent, which I quit using. I got an intimidation skill multiplier on my shirt, works ok, and no aggros from 500 meters downrange either.
We should be able to run faster or farther.
Not holding my breath tho, I will turn all blue and pass out...

Does anyone use the speed crawling ability? I can see maybe riflemen/rangers, but I'm not a rifleman and I don't plan on being one. Am I missing something stategic or tactical that I shoudl have figured out, but didn't?
Personally I don't think CM should get or need terrain neg. It is one of the few things that makes being a scout/ranger cool and unique. Yes, those like SL, BH, Commando also have it, but they had to spend the points to get the scout skills, same as us.
The only time a CM is going to need to get around and help people is a group. If that group is needing a CM, they will be in combat. If a well orgainzied group is in combat, they should not be spread all over the place. For the amount they are spread out, that is why CM can heal at a range, and don't have be right next to the person likea medic or doctor.
It seems they are making a lot of changes to professions to make them not so unique, and not so that the uniqueness will be needed for grouping. bummer.
