Thread: An idea to improve tracker ablity.
It’s disappointing that I have to politely tell them that I can only track in 500m and only in an area that is trafficked often by people since nothing will spawn otherwise in the middle of no-where unless you’re on top of it.
Why not give Rangers the ability to be a tracker....basically use the spawn system already developed to give the ranger a chance to spawn the desired creature. I’m sure this wouldn’t be too hard...just make a ranger into a mission terminal....or put one in the ranger camp....the only difference is there is no pay out.
The higher the ranger is the better chance he/she will track (spawn) the desired creature nest. The chance of success could also depend on their level. Something it like a mission spawn....(x)m from the ranger....as the ranger approaches the point can move representing new information gathered. The distance can also depend on the level of the creature.
So if my friends wanted to hunt a level 300 gorax then the chance of spawning one would be very unlikely and far away even for a master ranger....but it would be better then trying to find one by just running around. But if they wanted to hunt level 6 nuna in the middle of nowhere then spawning it is a high chance and it would be very close.
That way a ranger would be invaluable in a hunt and it would give it more of a tracking feel.
"Instead of using /track to spawn, how hard would it be to allow /track xxx to simply search a prescribed radius and see if that type of creature is in it? /areatrack already works this way, generically, by telling you every type of creature in the radius."
Would someone care to fill me in here?
I think the idea to actually spawn critters on demand will be a wonderful addition (especially during group hunts, and the like).
Why do I get the feeling that Rangers simply want an expansion of /areatrack and not this amazing new ability?
Isnt this what the /track command that is in development is intended to do. If you want to find that certain type of creature you use that command..and it will basically spawn the creature you want giving you a waypoint..and it has some downsides as they mentioned...it may not spawn what you expected it to spawn...and could lead you to something you dont want to see or fight.
I think this is coming based on the older notes.

That was my understanding of the /track command as well. ![]()
