Ranger Archive

I heard a "voice" that said I should become a Master Ranger. I am climbing up the Ranger tree and stripping sp from Master Bounty Hunter. As I take Bounty Hunter skills away, I lose more and more lethal ranged skills.

I am looking for recommendations as to what other profession compliments/protects a novice Ranger.

Well, if I were you I'd try to use my 4 levels in BH Pistol to build up some XP and transition your skill points over to pistoleer. My reasoning:

• You can drop master marksman, drop the rifle line, drop the carbine line, and save yourself a bunch of skill points in the process.


• Since you're pursuing holos, is since you've already mastered BH, you don't have to go back to it. Well, what are the chances a future holo will tell you pistoleer?


• You've already got pistol 4 in marksman, and you have a good bit of lethality in pistol from the BH line where you can get a good jump on pistol xp for pistoleer. You'd have a much harder time trying to start off Rifleman.

The easiest way to level a ranger is to join a battle group to hunt BIG stuff (i'm talking Kimo hunting or Rancors).

Then, make stacks of every trap you can make, and put them up on your quickbar.

As the battle start, just spam ALL of your traps, cycling them (at least use 5 different). A fight with a Kimo is usually very long, the exp will go up fast. Or just go to an aggro planet and shoot trap at mobs fighting each others, trapping the weak one (you don't wanna get aggro on the winner)

Once the group as killed the Kimo/Rancor/Krayt etc, harvest it. You get insane scout exp from this, and nice ressource too (200+ hides from Kimos). Doing this, you'll get traps exo and scout exp.

After EACH fight, go ahead and throw up your best camp. People will go in, get pets/vehicules out, heal fast, and mobe out. If the group is large, the camp exp will also be good.

He's not really asking how to level fast in ranger. What he really wants to know is what fighting skills he can take since he has to give up BH.

That's the point, if the aim is master ranger, he can actually achieve it with ZERO combat stuff. Ranger get exp from harvesting, maskscenting, trapping, and camping. So he could drop all his combat skill and still get ranger, so it's up to him really.

The fun and easy part, is just find a commando or anything else that kick ass. Ask them to group, promissing them that you will actually not steal ANY exp. Just Camo him, make camps for him, spam traps on his targets, and harvest the kill.

A ranger grinding is actually the perfect leech, since you don't leech any exp off anyone.

I am a carbineer/ranger/BH and I liked using my Carbineer/BH Carb skills to KD animals and bleed them. Of course the same little box told me to master CH, so I am droping BH to to Master my holo professions with(lol I will never surrender Ranger, if I had to I would certainly make sure to take it up again).

I find that as a carbineer I usually do best with a near by medic, but still just about any combat class will help you out, you just need to know how to use it and how to get the xp best(if thats ur goal).
