Notice that as soon as the devs gave that little hint a few months back about holocrons being the path to jedi? As soon as the holo-hunting/selling/scamming kicked into high gear, the economy went to crap, solid PAs started breaking up from holo-madness, people abandoned their chosen proffesions for uber-grind and basically everything went to hell. Holocrons are really versions of..... PANDORA'S BOX IN DISGUISE!!!!!!

Tell me i'm wrong- it all fits so perfectly!

Can't disagree, but ....

The economy of several servers is all borked up, with several PAs doing nothing but grinding. People are abandoning non combat professions until they get 5 holos, then they grind them and go play their Jedi person.Theyabandon the old character for the most part, further screwing up the economy. Personally, I would have let leak you had to master 5 professions and left out the crons, but hey, that's me. Don't get me started on why making Jedi suxxors, lol, I don't feel like typing that much. Altho I would have let the original character maintain his/her original stats/professions and merely gain Jedi powers.

I think the giveaway was an attempt to unbork some of the mess that had resulted from the holocron thing. Dunno if it worked or not, but I think not. However, as I am profiting from the resulting glut of grinders, who am I to complain?

And no, I don't chase holos. Tho I will support those who do.

Personally I had no chance previously, aside from random acts of kindness, to get any holos, and now I have 3 due to cross server trading. I just love this turn of events.

Honestly if it wasn't the Holos, most of theprofessions being broken (for what? 6 months now) would have done it...

I don't think it's a pandora's box as much as I think it's the ONLY ploy they have to keep people paying to play. They figure the majority want to be uber jedi so they will all fall to the holo grinding. The more professions you have to grind the longer you have to play and the more you have to pay. It's really that simple. Only they forcasted it taking weeks and/or months to master any given profession. They didn't calculate power grinders. Suddenly everyone is flying through the professions quicker than SOE had predicted..........what's funny is they have been quoted as saying that there is some type of mechanism to keep the number of jedi fluctuating over time so that not everyone becomes a jedi and stays a jedi. Should be loads of fun to see what happens when somebody can't be a jedi any longer because they died too many times or something like that.

As far as the in-game economy and such falling apart...........SOE doesn't care. They just want $$$$$$$$.

Yeah, the economy on wanderhome has been hosed for a while (rumors of >100 millions creds in the bank are common).I am a poor ranger who gives his animal parts to his guild, so I can't even make a buck that way, so I stuck making money off of missions. I finally scrimped and saved and had 180k in the bank, but now I am switching professions (keeping Ranger, of course) so, bye bye money (for training and supplies). but I digress...To answer the economy issue...yes, they seem to be in a tailspin and can not be fixed without drastic measures. As for the holocrons, yes they are a trick. They were put in to keep people around. They gave them as presents to spark more interest in Jedi. Since they said they in the beginning that there would be few Jedi, and it would be very hard to get there (they also say how surprised they are that there are so many FS slots so soon) why else would they do holocrons at all, other than to keep people paying?
