Droid Invasion....

I was quite excited by the SWG Wallpaper for the comming Driod Invasion, very dramatic looking stuff. I got to wondering what exactly was comming and so popped into the DE forum to have a gander, perhaps there is a meaty combat driod that can help me out, Ranger isnt exactly a combat class as we all know.

But, I saw this post, - perhaps we dont have things to bad after all - this guy actually feels the need to say sorry on behalf of the DE's after his profession recieved some "love" from the DEV's...!

Remarkable that something that is supposed to be for the DE's (and the game in general) seems to be so despised by the class in general, on reading the forums I find very few not talking in very nagative terms.

Perhaps us Rangers are better off keeping our heads down..?

I felt it's my duty to inform the people of Chimaera, my friends, my guildies, and all my current and previous customers of this change. I will also say that the DE community did not request this change, but this was made by SOE alone.

I would like to further ask that people ignore the new "Droid Invasion" wallpaper that SOE has made available. The only droid in that picture that Droid Engineers can make is the R4 that is running for its life in the foreground. We CAN NOT make any of the combat droids in the background, so please don't ask. Droid Engineers are very upset about this patch as it is, and bugging us about things we wish we could do only makes us more grumpy than usual.

Thank you for your time, I hope this PSA is useful. I wish I didn't have to post it.

I apologise for SOE's behaviour in this.

Best Wishes

Ranger is not a profession. It's a lifestyle.

I knew there were some nasty discussions on the DE forums about the invasion. I think the "Droid Wars" are coming, at least until they nerf them back to CH pet levels. I also think it is a little cheap to show battle droids, implying they are coming in the next patch. The DE's will be under fire for a while.

About us keeping our heads down, we don't sell a product, so I hope when we get our loving, we will not have to explain ourselves.

Thats really disappointing...

My only hope is that they introduce new droids slowly and carefully so that they wont be as powerful as the pets were at one point, and then nerf them down. Better to put in a few droids now, and upgrade rather than introduce uber droids, then nerf them

Perhaps I should note that I have no info on the droids, I am just assuming that they will be too uber or not strong enough to be useful. I would tend to think they will be too uber, but that is yet to be seen.

Right calc,

nor do i have any info on droids, but if soe follows their established pattern, its release then nerf, not release and upgrade.

however, if the droids are indeed uber, buy them up quickly before they get dumbed down

But SOE has perfected the art of Nerfing the Pre-Nerf items....Anyone read the past notes, and the current publish info on FWG5s? hehehe

just a quick note about the droid "invasion" and a warning so it doesn't hit you by surprise. All the armor on your existing droids is going to fall off when the patch hits. If your droid now has AR2 and 40% resists, that's going to retroactively be reduced to AR0 and 20% resists. That's the new maximum armor. The combat capable droids (after the patch) will be the R-series droids, the Probots, LE repair droids and Dz70's. R-series droids will reportedly be receiving both a ranged and melee attack and a HAM boost. Le Repair droids reportedly get a Melee attack and a large HAM boost. Probots get their ranged attack enhanced and HAM boost. Repair kits will be available to fix damage on droids. I'm not going to get into my opinions of the changes, just presenting the information as I've been hearing about it.

what? I thought YOU knew how to get the caramilk into the caramilk bar.....

I don't know why they don't just do Droid Engineers morelike Creature Handlers.

Make it something that can't be dabbled in effectively. Make the prof very expensive in terms of skill points, and give high-end Droid Engineers the ability to use very tough combat droids. They could sell the low-level stuff to non-DE's... just like Creature Handlers sell low level creatures and mounts.

Cat,

Because they don't want to be creature handlers. Bio-engineers can't control their pets. A droid handler profession was proposed, but rejected by the DEs in favor of fixing existing droids and adding more utility abilities to droids. I would've liked a droid handler and big powerful droids, but I'm not a droid engineer. AR2 on a droid is broken. Sorry. CL10 droids should be in line with CL10 creatures. So they are weak, but they've said they want more utility. That could be cool. Creatures for fighting, droids for utility, workhorses. Battle type droids reserved for dungeons.

That's cool, I suppose. I'm just not familiar with Droid Engineer issues at all. I hope they get a good revamp. Sounds like they need it.

Dunno about you but I was quite excited about the Imperial Crackdown. Ooooh I thought, getting scanned will be quite cool. And those stormies coming into cantinas and harassing Rebels!

I've been scanned ZERO times, I've never seen a stormie in a cantina (but then I don't sit in em all day) and all I see is a few more Stormtroopers and Dant imperial outpost makes my head wurl with the chatter.

Trouble is I'm getting excited about the droid invasion.... one of those "glass half full" rather than "glass half empty" people I guess....

We will see...
