What conditions have to be present for me to be able to experiment on Camo products?

When I arrived at 1-x-x-x ranger, i hunted the proper resources for a few batches of Corellian Camo. I stood by all the public crafting stations, and it never gave me the option to experiement on them. I was using a Generic Crafting tool.

What Crafting tool do I need?

What Crafting station do i need to stand next to? (Public/Private/Generic/Food/Med)

What does Experiementation do for Camo? Better Product? or simply more applications?

Thanks in Advance....

Experimentation gives you more uses per item, and to do it you'll need a Weapon/droid/generic (or what ever it's called) tool and at least a public weapon/droid/generic station.

What *ahem* cheese_monkey said. There is a handy little Weapon, Droid, and Generic Crafting Station in the HTFB. Hey...camps do have a use, you can use them to experimenton camo....wait...camo stinks, socamps are still unnecessary...

I'm not sure I totally agree with this. I've been hunting on Naboo and Corellia for the past few days and the camo has been significantly better than the mask scent. I even used the HTFB to make the camo on Naboo and it works quite nicely (mind you, this is with +140 camo [+100 master ranger, +15 bothan, +25 BE clothes, I actually have more in the clothing end but +150 didn't give me an extra experimentation point so I'm guessing +140 is the cap]). But I do know that lots of other people are having trouble with it.

125 is the cap.

And I'm a convert to Camo, as well. It's not useful in all situations, but it does have it's uses.

I will admit that camo is supposed to better than MS, but due to MS being "free" to use, I tend to stick with it. Then there is the added bonus of not needing any inventory space when you only use MS. My camo went into the bank when it stopped working on NPCs, so I suppose I should start using it again before I shoot my mouth off . I believe the historical numbers show that MS gives a 95% chance to not get detected while camo gives a 98% chance, at master Ranger.

It STILL works on NPCs. I've checked this many, many times. I've been attacked precisely twice by aggro NPCs while camo'd (without it breaking camo first), and I've used it dozens of times successfully.

The first time was stormtroopers with whom I had previously entered combat before applying camo.

The second was at long range on a very laggy day. My guess is that it hadn't checked camo yet before they aggro'd.

I suppose it could be coincidence.. But if that's the case, it's damned frequent and consistent coincidence.

Hey, make a Talus camo kit. In experimentation, name it after a beer.... instant brewskis for sale to the demented little Bounty Hunters who will buy the stuff at insane prices. Then they find out they can't "drink" it, or use it for that matter.

I been making quite a nice chunk of change of the dolts.

So there is one use for a camo kit

DWolfe, for a Bothan the cap is 140. Racial bonuses do stack with profession and clothing modifiers.

That they do. The racial modifier goes to the left side of the /. So my camo is currently at +115/+149 (pretty sure the cap is 140, though, as +152 gave no extra experimentation). I'm not sure how much of a difference this makes but I've been loving my camo kits recently. They almost never break and they protect me from lots of the NPCs as well (although I've only tried them on Corellia and Naboo recently). If you haven't tried them recently, you might want to try them again. I never used to use them before I dropped Ranger (because they rarely worked and were a pain to assemble) but I've recently been going out ofmy way to get the resources. And I've even run into situations where they saved my life where mask scent would not have had a chance (about 7 maulers spawned up on top of me and I saw a lot of scout xp coming my way--I'm going to hate hitting the cap again). I'm guessing that it must be bugged for those of you for whom it does not work well.

I did tests on this way back when N'Raas clarified that skill mods from clothing have a fixed +25 bonus. I later asked about racial modifiers but he was never able to get an answer, so I did some tests with an excessive amount of +camo bonus.

My experimentation capped at 14 points no matter how much extra camo I was wearing. We got our answer that way. If you want the exact details you can search for my name and camo on the Ranger forum (hopefully there aren't too many posts that turn up). This would have been at least three or four months ago.

As useless as I consider the bonus, it is one of the few that lets us definitively answer how racial caps operate. (Go Bothans!)

I stand corrected about caps for Bothans. I have no bio-clothing, so I've not even hit the cap.. I'm going off of what is commonly said here on the Ranger boards.
