They should be a "base" that you can retreat to to be healed.... maybe even give it a stun (non-dmg)turret at master ranger or somthing that makes mobs retreat from it

I just wonder what people would do with it. I mean... If I go drop it next to a rancor lair and start fighting rancors and constantl retreating my odds are much better than most people. I get the heal modifier and a defense bonus for the camp? Also a stun turret? I doubt that SOE would go for that. But, I dont mind the idea of being able to restart a camp that was abandoned by using a wee bit of action ham.... That way the camp can be restarted and perhaps they could allow rangers a longer time for the camp to remain in abandoned status. Or if one person from the group remains in it the camp could remain tended and working.

I was under the impression you couldn't set up a camp within a certain perimeter of a lair... so wouldn't that dispel your theory of camping a lair?

Well I'm a BH with some ranger but of course I can't build the FB camp kit ecc.

I'd sign your petition, and I'vehad this idea myself a couple of weeks ago, but it sounds easily exploitable.

At least they should make it available only at Master Ranger.

The main problem is this: let's say you can build, as a MR, a camp with a turret ecc, as close as possible to a lair (80-100mts?). Let's say you build the above mentioned camp 100 mts from a rancor lair. Then you or one of your friends goes at 64mts from the rancor, make it aggro and run to the camp. The rancor stalks your friend and get close to the camp, the turrets kills (maybe with some help from you) the rancor. Easy exploit.

Imagine to use this technique with the nightsisters: 3 or 4rangersbuild theircamps, as close as possible. As the NS destroy the first turret, they run to the second, ecc...

One -use spell check.

Two - read and research before posting a petition, this is an old old old subject

Three - petitions are about as useful as a fork in a soup storm. We want something done, we think it out, post it, and ask other Rangers what they think of it. If the idea has merit, it makes NRass' list. If the idea is stupid, it dies in flames.

Four - well duh, the camps do stay up during combat, as long as the Ranger is not shooting; you can heal in them, as long as the people/critters you are shooting at don't follow you in; and if you have a turret in your pack, and are overt, you can place one near the camp.

Sounds like you really don't understand Rangers, have no clue what is going on at all, never read our "wishlist", and just want wanted to add a petition (again, useless), to this forum. Nice try.... Judges give you a 1.0 for research, a 1.0 for knowing what's going on, and a 0.0 for doing a petition. Except the Gamorrean judge, he likes your idea and gives you a 1.5 across the board.

Just a happy lil Ranger - petitions are freaking stupid - flame

Not that I think we should be using camps in our hunting methods, but why not give us an advantage in taking down creatures? If not outdoorsmen, the devs have at least stated we are to be the master creature hunters in the game. we should be afforded every advantage to hunting creatures over every other player.

That being said, I would hate the idea of people being able to keep their camps up and fireing at MOBs from within it's boundaries. Even more I would hate it if people used camp defenses in offensive tactics. But camps should not disband in combat.
The /changetender idea works, but it could be better. like as someone has stated, the camp owner looses a camp in combat it stays up for a while, but the fire goes out and it just becomes "a camp". If that camp could be fired up by anyone (including the origonal owner) with enough camping skills to run it by using a command and some ham points, then we have a better system where the owner can change hands, and a way for the ranger to go into combat himself and not fully loose the camp. The camp goes dead while he is in combat and is just a structure with no healing mods or anything, once he is done with combat he can return and /restoke the fire and have his camp back. Just increase the ammount of time that a "dead" camp stays in the world to say 10min or a %of the time that the camp would last if it were tended.

You can exploit many things, and this the exploits would be limited to lairs mobs, npcs... i'm not gonna shed too many tears for them, but still:

1. ther is a limit to how close to a lair you can put camps in place

2. The defences obviusly would have to consider the level of the mod trying to overrun the camp to determine if it holds it off

3. Dots are very weak now so at this poin the dot and run attack would not be much better by hiding in a camp then just getting on a bike

4. No i will not use spell check

5. No attacking from the camp unless its over run and disbanded

6. Mainly the point of my post was to saythat a base isn't much of a base if it goes away during combat and the healing mod of the camp is pretty pointless since a 5k droid carries a 110 helaing mod and can be called from the most basic camp. so what is the point of a "better" camp?

also, why doesn't conceal work i got agroed on shot 4 pretty consistantly while concealed and thats pretty much on par with normal mask scent... and does it make you invisible to other players or not? clearly your still on radar but can they see you

you have come very late to the party my friend. if you skim the threads from a few weeks ago, you'd see that we covered all this allready and we know about all these issues. we have already come up with a great proposal that has been submitted to the devs which will either fix or enhance everything you are bringinging up.

We don't run things here in the ranger forum like they do in other parts of the forums and we take pride in that. we don't wine, we don't complain (much), and we don't make petitions. had you come here read up a bit and asked your questions, you would have had much better results. we rangers will be happy to take you into the fold, but you gotta do how we do.

Camps don't stay up in combat currently, but our correspondant has proposed already that it should. Cammo kits currently are not much more than maskscent that you can apply to other players. it doesn't work well (if at all) against NPC's. we are working to change that. It's all in the proposal.
