Thread: Concerning Dabbling: rediculous.
Just now figuring this out?
Sure is ridiculous, which is why I posted asking that the harvesting percentages for Rangers be trebled at a minimum over Master Scouts, and even higher as you progress up the trees.
Agree with ya on tracking too.
But, BHs do not "own" PvP. I have 9 MBH kills on my own, no buffs, no armor, no KMart special weapons...just a really good knowledge of tactics, skill, cunnng and fast feet.
Can the MBH put you out of business... depends on if you are willing to let him. The average MBH has a lot of expenses - those neat weapons (electricity and rancors...lol), armor (usually not kinetic resistant) and buffs (to wear the stupid armor). My expenses.... uh..... decent weapons. Some stims maybe. I think selling at the same prices, my profit margin is better. Plus, as I know I can kick azz in PvP, I don't have to prove myself, leaving more time to hunting. I hunted on 4 planets today, never did clone, and never did die, and yes...Endor and Dathomir were included (woulda gone to Lok, but there is nothing there, that place is gacked up).
Dabbling is bad, but not as bad as you think. Besides, we can see beforehand using examine what the creatures drop, BHs, being morons by and large, have to kill to remember what drops what.
Psst.... there is no money in hides, get good meat and find the Docs, the BEs and the CMs... you will be rich

The money making tree is tracking. So someone taking most of that tree will bealmost as effective as a masterat hunting. They will not be able to do anything with camo or the field bases and they will have trouble hitting rancors and such with traps.

As for money making, a master ranger/master combat profession can make a ton of cash very quickly. I fight unarmored and unbuffed (and I have no medic skills at all) and have no troublesoloing rancors. I only die if I do something stupid (like pulling 5 rancors instead of 1). I've yet to see an MBH fighting without armor or buffs. Just that alone saves me a lot of money over that MBH trying to get resources. But you should consider mining if you really want to make money quickly. Pick up novice artisan and a few harvesters and find a resource contract. It's minimal work with very high returns.

most BH's with the tracking skill rarely use it for harvesting. Other than to make a quick few bucks on the side. One of my BH friends didnt even know that the skill mod for harvesting was in the tracking line until i told him. (again opening him up for some more mockery)
Mostly they use it for tracking critters and people.
JB and everyone else is right, with the harvesting amounts so favored on the scout side and not the ranger side, We dont get much in terms of quantity. Lately I have been doing some massive hunting for hides and making some good money and some great armor for barter.
The only problem I have is providing enough material for the clients that I choose to hunt for.
Im not bashing dabbling, in fact i am wholly in favor of it, for reasons I have explained before, However, Master Ranger should have a lot more perks than it does already to make it up to what we expect it to be and what we know it could be
